Help App goes off in sleep mode

I have a Zeki TBDG874B 8 inch tablet and every time it goes in sleep mode it shuts off one of my apps.
I turned off sleep mode but when I go to to press the power button to turn the screen off in about 3 minutes the app shuts off then when I go to press the power button to turn the screen on the app signs back in.
I am wanting to know where I can go to set this app to stay on while in sleep mode.
Please anybody out there can tell me how to do this.

I have a Android Zeki Model TBDG874B 8inch tablet I want one of my apps to stay on and it will not stay on when I press the power button to turn the screen off it stays on for about 3 minutes then the app goes off when I go to press the power button the app signs back on.
I have turned sleep mode off and that does not keep the app from going off.
I would like this app to stay on while it is in sleep mode so I can get my messages.
It there anything other then that, that I can do?
