Help serious issue

I have an original n4. The battery is gassing out (swelling) and had pushed (not broken) the glass matrix back off. I can't replace battery ATM and gluing the back on isn't an issue. I just need to know what the flex board glued to the glass panel does.

Yes I know keeping the phone alive (charges in my bed whilst I sleep) is bad. I just want to know what the PCB glued to the back glass plate is. I don't have torx set but battery lifted matrix back without shattering so I can vent pouch. Just need to know what the flex board is used for. It's not connected now and phone is working. Only thing I can figure is additional ground plain but there are trace pathways not one flat plane.
 
But you are continuing to use the phone and are not replacing the battery, just want to know what that component is for before gluing the back on? Sorry if I've misread you, but that is what the first post implies. If so, please don't - you absolutely need to replace that battery.

I've not seen inside of one so can't answer your question, but that seems very much secondary right now.

If I could replace the battery I would. I literally bum change at off ramps to buy food ATM. Can't find a job, lucky to have a friend that lets me stay under a roof with WiFi for the moment. I'm pretty sure I can vent the pouch without harming myself. Is just the board glued to the back in worried about. Really without device I can give up so it's what matters right now.
 
That makes sense.. Either NFC or wireless charging serve no prose for me but would sorry best there. Ty. I'm running phone with matrix glass back off till I can replace batt.
