For many times I have struggle with sharing photos or videos or big files over internet using messenger app. It's not only consume my mobile data but also speed is really slow and sometimes it is compresed and become low quality. Could you share with us what file transfer app do you have? Cheers~

If i'm using dropbox then, let says I want to transfer file to my friends. I cannot do that with dropbox right? Any other suggestion. Bluetooth definitely BIG NO. :)

Sure you can. Just go into dropbox, go to the file you want to send to your friends, click on the arrow>share>then select how you want the link to be sent to your friends. They will be able to download the file itself from the link you send. You can also have a shared folder, where anything you put in that is accessible to your friends.

I use mega (mega.co.nz) because it's faster than Google Drive (download and upload) and there's 50GB of space.

I have YET to find a file sharing app that can resume uploads (for example, you leave wifi and resume on cellular)

Me and my friends use Zapya app to transfer files. It's a really good app

- It does not require internet [It creates a WLAN / wifi hotspot using your phone wifi]
- with Zapya you can directly transfer files of any type or size between iOS, Mac, android, windows phone and windows PC.
- This app also support group sharing - share files with multiple people at the same time
- chat feature very useful when you are in a situation where yoiu cannot speak for example when you are in school or office and want something from your friend or colleague then you can simply chat.

it has some more features but i havent explored them yet.

Here's the link to download Zapya on google play: http://goo.gl/EhjLgK

Hope This helps :)

Is there a required distance needed when using xender.... like what if a device was left out of town with the app installed and friend sends u files to ur phone.. or even out of state..

From the app's description it seems to be using the WiFi hotspot feature for the connection between devices. So I'd expect the range to be a few meters, certainly not more than 10s of meters.

To work at longer distances it would have to use the Internet, which the developers state several times it does not do.

I just installed it, looked at how it is set up, and it is way too damn intrusive, wanting to take my whole damn phone and send it to someone....

no thanks, I uninstalled it.

I will stick with ASUS File Manager, which also uses WiFi file sharing, and it is fast and easy to use. and it don't require the receiver to have the ASUS app... only have a Shared Folder.
