Help Windows files from Samsung

Lurker
I am using a new Samsung Tab S. I have a Seagate external hard drive which was formatted and used to backup selected directories from my Windows Vista laptop. The external hard drive uses a USB port for power and data transfer, which was smooth when using Vista.

I have connected it via a USB adapter to the micro USB port (power port) on my Samsung Tab S. It has power cause it lights up ok. Is there any way to actually read the files (mostly .jpg) on the external drive from my Samsung Android? have tried several file managers on the Samsung but the device is not recognized.

Help???

Oh man..... that cant work.... because the Tab cant provide such a high power source to the hard disk and ur hard disk is in NTFS format. The tab will not support it... And if it supports, the tab cant give such a high power to run tge HDD drive... Sorry man.... But u can connect Pendrives....;)

Thanks to all who replied... I was afraid the answer might be oxnix but was hoping someone might have some magic.

Yeah, Pen drives should work, but as has been suggested, it might well be a power issue. I suspect the tab can't give the drive enough power.

Fwiw, my mum has the Tab S and she can read pen drives and her external HD fine (that uses an external power source though).
