swapping CDMA for GSM motherboard

Hi, my son has a CDMA version SGS3 and no longer has access to LTE due to the big change.

I was wondering if I can swap the CDMA logic board for a GSM one using the same hardware. Anyone who has attempted this with success I would love to know how it turned out.

I have other options, but my son loves this phone to death and want to salvage it as much as possible.

Thanks for any assistance you can give me.

I figured that would be the best response, so thanks for replying.

I stumbled upon another post, shortly after posting this, from another website that attempted to do this, but with moderate modifications to the housing in which it was sitting in.

If you don't want to pay for a new phone, many (all?) MetroPCS markets are giving people credits for their old CDMA phone. You'll probably get a big enough credit for your S3 to get a free phone (unless you want the S5 or S6).

Check with your local Metro store :)

Shoot naw!! Lol...My son need to score all A's at least to even consider getting him a shiny, new piece of tech.

My only con with the new S6 is that it has no expandable memory. Samsung has finally gone the way of iPhones in terms of selection of internal storage.
