Help Confused about calendar sync

Mastiff37

Newbie
I have my android phone hooked in to both google infrastructure and an exchange server at work. It mostly works in that I can see stuff from both google calendar and work using the calendar on my phone. The thing is, when I add something to the calendar on my phone, it pushes up to my work calendar, but does not show up on google (from a PC for example). Ideally, I'd like work stuff to come down, but I don't want phone stuff to push up to work. I'd like stuff I do on the phone to push up to google at the very least. I can't really find any settings to control how this all works. Can anyone help? I'm using the google calendar app on the phone.

Thanks, but it is syncing already. Problem is that calendar entries from the phone only go to exchange and not google. I'd like it to be the other way around.

I may be figuring this out. I was just ignorant of the fact that for every new entry you have to manually say which calendar you want it to go to. On my android I have the actual google calendar, which is labeled "events" for some reason, then "my calendar", which I think is some (to me) worthless thing that only stores on the phone, then another with my work email for exchange. It must be defaulting to the one from work, which explains the behavior.

Now if I can just figure out why everything shows up 2-3 times on the phone and only once everywhere else...

Thanks for the replies.

Remember - there's no substitute for your calendar settings from your Gmail web account / setup. Everything on your phone is just a reflection of what you have there.

Also - while the built-in/free system apps are enough for most users, those of us who turn to alternative apps do so for good reasons ok. ;)

It's possible that the sync copied the events as well to the phone only calendar. I am not sure of which phone you have, but most of the calendars have the option to "turn off" unwanted calendars display. So you can try turning off the display for My Calendar, and the other events would likely disappear too.
