MetroPCS to Include Free Hotspot With All Plans

Question: On the 4G LTE unlimited ($50 promo/$60 plan) is the tethering data bucket separate from the phone data? That is, if I used up all 6gb of high speed data in the tethering bucket, would I still have unlimited 4G on the phone untethered? Or would I go down to 128 K? I'm thinking the former, since a bucket is separate.

yes it is seperate on the 60 rate plan... but on the 40-50 you'll share your data

you'll get the 6 gigs 7 if you had it before this took affect

By all means this is a nice move by Metro PCS but it seems like $5 Tether service for extra 1 gig is not enough.

I think extra 5gig 4G LTE (= total 10gig of 4G LTE) seems more rewarding for people who are willing to pay extra $ there.

I've been using $5 Tether option but removed now.

I spend my time between NYC and out in the country. I get absolutely no signal in the country unless I travel about 2 miles up the road (or climb the mountain behind my house!) So when I'm there, I rely on WiFi for everything, rendering tethering impossible. When I'm in the city though, I have noticed that my 4G connection is faster than some WiFi connections (in coffeeshops, etc) so this'll come in handy. I could probably burn though 6Gb on my laptop pretty quickly though, best to use browser that goes light on the data, maybe Opera.

It works, just did a test trial run on the Zmax :-)!

Here's what I know about BYOD and Metro and Wifi.

It does appear they have removed the prior in place user agent checker which Would make for much easier tethering.

I tether A LOT on my N4. Have since day one with a slight APN edit but have ALWAYS had to deal with a user agent switcher with the non-phone end which Has been a PIA.

A week or so ago, I noticed that I was on sites, tethering, Without my UAS engaged. Hmmm. That's weird. I checked using a couple different scenarios this morning. I indeed no longer need to use the UAS.

Good on ya Metro.

Even before this was a benefit, tethering from my OnePlus One to a Nexus 7 worked without issue. I did not need any additional apps or settings adjusted on my phone or the tablet. It just worked. I have since tried to repeat these actions and I have not encountered any issues.
