LG and firmware

according to the LG representative that i talked to today "LG doesn't post stock firmware for download, especially if it was from a O.T.A" so basically until LG adds support for the LG Mobile Support Tool, we that have bricked are screwed.

well currently i downloaded the tool and connected via download mode and it did detect my phone but said it was already on the latest available software so i hit options and am "updating via model number" so it should update to the 5.0 it had....if this works that is

good luck.

I had to restart my laptop so i'm starting again and so far i'm 10 minutes into the "Downloading Software" part of the LG Mobile Support Tool and it's a 1.5GB or more download so it's gonna take a while i'm gonna leave it tonight and see if it's fixed tomorrow

I remember we use to go through this stuff with the LG Spirit, It was why I went away from LG for a long time. Right now I have the phone rooted and that's all I'm doing to it till things smooth out.

well it didn't work for me :/ but when the LG Mobile Support Tool gets the boost update i will try again

i just checked the site and they have the kdz for my metro stylo...i just download it its 1.2 gigs...but my phone is MS63110a and this file is MS63110d...wondering if that means its 5.1?

Yeah I have 3110a even though 311d is available through LG but my phone can't detect the new version yet.

i just woke up to an android system update on my phone but i really dont want to end up with a locked bootloader...i think its time to to root this sucker...

Yeah guys do not accept the update on t-mobile or metro pcs to avoid getting a locked bootloader. Just update with the method I posted.

wow i was just on the phone with LG and there basically telling me that i have to send my phone in to have it re-flashed because they have the firmware for it, so then i asked if they can just upload the kdz file like they did with T-Mobile and Metro variants and he said "i'm sorry but the only firmware download for your device is O.T.A, so we can't provide it" then i reminded him that he said "we have the firmware to re-flash the device" and he just stayed silent then he hung up.....i really think they are screwing us over in this part

How much does it cost to get your phone reflashed and how long will it take?
I might be willing to do it just so I can update to 5.1

The techs can check for root in the hidden menu I believe, in an option called "Root Check Tool" (RCT). Just open the file /persist/rct.cfg on a rooted Stylo and you'll see what I'm talking about.

but who knows if they would find it in a bricked LG G Stylo

When they restore the system or as I'm sure they have access from download mode with there own commands or software, the rct.cfg file will be there for them to view. Whether they give you a pass is a different story.

Here's what it looks like on a rooted stylo...
