dealing with BB and RS relieves you from MIR.
as for upgrade price, there's no difference... you just don't need MIR

True, dealing with them relieves you of any MIR, but I feel like they earn commissions based on new customers so I hope they won't be reserving the phone JUST for new customers as I have seen in the past.

Ah but some phones DO have different pricing at both stores, the big price in yellow you see is the new customer price and the small one you have to look for is the upgrade price. Sometimes the two prices are the same, sometimes they aren't.When my parents upgraded a month ago, Mom's BB Curve was $49 for new customer, $49 for upgrade. Dad's Samsung Moment was $99 for new customer, $179 for upgrade. So he paid $179 for his Moment. So what I'm wondering is if the Evo 2 yr contract price is $199, will those of us current Sprint customers who are upgrade eligible have to pay more, say $249 for example. That would suck as I don't want to have to pay the high pre-rebate price directly from Sprint.

I believe the only time there is a difference in price it is because the retailer has a sale. Did you check what the prices were thru Sprint when your dad upgraded? It was probably $179 for new or upgrade.

wrong, bestbuy and radioshack earn money or commission when their employees sell packages like options, accessories, or stuff like insurance/replacement that Bestbuy offers (not offered by Sprint).

I speculate that May 12 the info that most here are waiting for will not be revealed..

They will introduce some new features, give out some final specs and introduce some cool apps, give some units out to the tech heads for reviews..

And Dan is going to moonwalk off the stage to a Michael Jackson song, smiling as he keeps the suspense going and loving every minute of it..

And yes.. for those of you wondering, my avatar is Kimbo Slice.

I just didn't know any good Kimbo Slice qutoes so I figured a Mr. T quote would work just fine.. lol

No, at the time the Moment was $99 at the Sprint store. So they will at times charge more for upgrade then Sprint will for upgrade. At least they do here in local stores. Couple months back at Radio Shack they had Pre's $29 for new customers, $179 for upgrade.

Did any of you actually READ what I wrote? I'm sick of the mods having to come down, lock things down here, ban people, and generally irritate them.

If you guys really want to continue debating/arguing/whatever about the validity of a given contributor's posts, please do so in another thread! We have an "Off-Topic Banter" thread for a reason... let's use it please.

We don't need to see any more bans and locks.

Thank you.

I've just told OTD to issue anyone who is rude or does anything out of line a three day ban from here on out. I won't be able to moderate this thread until tomorrow evening when I get back from my trip. Behave!

Hesse better get his ass in gear and get this thing out or he's going to wake up and find himself out on his ass some day soon. Sprint does not have the luxury to dick around and be coy with customers - especially tech savvy smartphone users who have little patience and lots of alternatives. they continue to bleed customers and can't afford to lose any more - especially the highly profitable data centric ones.

Way to go, deleting my post defending Jackson while all the posts ridiculing him are left in place. Yeah that's fair. Goodbye!

don't take it personally. the people who comment in and moderate forums really should mean nothing to you. don't let it bother you. people will be people and sometimes egos - large and small - get in the way.

best wishes to all.

i can't keep up with the amount of posts so i'm not sure if this has already been shared. if it has, i apologize for being redundant. the evo will require a new type of plan called the "bundle plan". i've not yet heard what the pricing for this will be but will post when i found out more info.

i'm skeptical that the evo will "require" a new plan, as opposed to a new plan being available; with tethering and such.

i don't believe it. my take is -

3G+4G on EVO = No Additional Cost

3G+4G on EVO with Hotspot Feature Add On = $10-20/Month Extra

Wow....i don't like the sound of that! I was set to get one of the current plans...and any new plan suggests that a higher price will be paid. That would take some of the advantage away from Sprint economically...imho.

Wow now thats the third person whose mentioned about a ''separate plan'' for the EVO today. What gives?

Isn't that just the standard Everything Plus dealy?

Hopefully it is, because I'm on SERO right now and want to switch over to the Everything Plus Referral plan (59.99 a month with 500 minutes and unlimited text / data).
