Root M8 flashed firmware in cmd, now stuck in HBOOT

It's more than tedious, you have to be rooted to begin with.

I'm checking to see if I still have a superuser from that era.
You saw my recent posts? It appears to be working fine with arhd. If it would be advantageous to go superuser, then sure lets go down that road. Meantime all is well;)

Looks like possible success.
In recovery, deleted, wiped all partitions, then flashed .img, pulled batt to shut down, entered recovery again, flashed arhd, wiping cache in aroma, rebooted and lo and behold it has successfully booted into os. Not sure if radio and all is good, but hey this is certainly the farthest I've been.
I hadn't seen this - congrats! You're getting pretty good at this. :)

ARHD ought to be already rooted - look for a superuser app in the drawer.

Let me know if everything works.
I suppose if I wanted to try the viper, Id have to flash the boot img also before flashing rom.
Yeah, I don't think that's wise.

Without radio support and current links, you could go from almost working to paperweight in the blink of an eye.

I assume that you got the gold card s-off info from here -

That's the EasyAceRootTool.

I've disassembled it.

In 2010 my first HTC root took 78 steps, including an s-off engineering bootloader - and I had to do them by hand.

The EasyAceRootTool will root your stock rom and install busybox and CWM recovery. I wouldn't take it any further and if it were my phone, I'd avoid s-off and changing hboot at all costs.

If ARHD doesn't work right, restore the stock nandroid and try the tool.

Meanwhile, make a nandroid of ARHD asap if you haven't already - you don't want to go through another install like that.

Best luck with ARHD, finger crossed it's all good - and happy father's day!

Happy fathers day to you too mi amigo! Yeah so far everything works. Amen to making a nandroid too. I think until an easy way to s off comes along, Ill just leave it alone. I guess being s off with the inspire isnt too important. Its faster than it was and she is happy with it. :)

It's not from a phone. It's on a tv at work. Thought you might get a kick out of it. Beyond Tv set top box went south I guess. It also doubles as a low power consumption wallpaper on my phone. What with all the dark areas and all.....lol! Had ya goin huh?

Looks like someone has a Desire HD, yes?

Or - is that still the Amaze. They're very similar - but the Ace was officially the DHD.
It's my sister's inspire 4g. Adb devices gets nothing, when I tried to unlock it on htcdev, fastboot oem get_etc, etc, nothing. I'm wondering why there's no pink banner at the top. I was going to do the same thing we just did to Brielles phone.

You know, the pink banner that says locked or unlocked? How have you been amigo?

Is the viper Rom Adobe flash player friendly?
Yes, it depends on how and what you want to do.

I use Dolphin Browser for built-in Flash support right from Dolphin.

I also use MX Player, that seems to do anything.

Here's some info about playing swf files -

I'm glad you posted back!

I'm visiting the grandkids and spaced this - sorry!

So - are we going to root your sister's phone? I need a memory jog (slightly embarrassed).

Edit - ok, looking again, I think that is a yes - I'll start assembling the goods! :)

Yes I was hoping to do the same as we did with my daughter's inspire 4g. About the flash thing....some websites show "plugin not supported" " must have Adobe flash player to view this content". I'm mostly using chrome browser but if Need be dolphin could be used. No sweat about spacing anything...this isn't major important stuff anyway. You've got bigger fish to fry.

Nice! Really nice. :)

I actually haven't forgotten about you, it's been a crazy week and per usual, want to be *absolutely certain* before launching the next round of instructions.

Hold volume up + power until it shuts down - that's a power reset, won't harm your data.
This am I turned it off to save power and thought to try the charger again. It displayed the batterry icon with lightning bolt and so I left it on the batterry backup charging. Powered on the phone to see if it would continue to charge....voila! But I will try the steps you presented and it will be good to go.

And I didn't forget about the other phone. I was trying to track down one of the original devs to see about s-off for that - no luck.

Looking into a traditional HTCdev.com route.
