Root HELP! Accidentally Wiped Internal Storage and OS on HTC ONE M8

yeah
but another problem that i have is that my phone restarts randomly
sometimes
Hi.

I was waiting for something more descriptive. No crystal ball. :)

Run the phone in safe mode - if it stops randomly restarting, it's an app.

Does it happen related to charging cycles? Replace the cable.

Is it happening when you're doing something in particular?

Was it doing this before the root trouble started?

It happened before the root problem, its not the charging cycle , and it wasnt because of an app,

OK, where to start...

First - those instructions are how to do a fastboot zip install from a zip on the sd card.

Second - neither file is going to work, and if they'd been that easy to find, I've have pointed them out last time.

For an RUU to work - at all - on an s-on phone, it has to match the CID and MID values in your getvar listing.

Those two updates you found aren't even close.

You have four choices -

1. Find the Taiwan RUU that matches your CID and MID. Can you contact the seller? I have a number of contacts in Tsinchu that I'll reach out to, but I make no promises.

2. Change your rom to a plain stock one, root it, get Sunshine s-off ($25), apply the SuperCID mod so you can flash the international GSM firmware (possible after you modify the CID and then the MID as well, and that's only possible with s-off) - and finally - fastboot flash the firmware update.

I'm going to warn you right up front - I have no idea if attempting that on your M8 variation is going to permanently turn your phone into a useless paperweight.

That's an elaborated repeat of what I said the first time - because everything I have and have worked with is for the One M8.

And you have the One M8x.

That one extra letter is enough that I wouldn't try it if it were my phone but it's your decision.

3. Get s-off, and attempt to convert the firmware to an entirely different type. I don't know how to do that. You may find GPE conversions at the XDA site and you'll have to ask there and proceed at your own risk. Be sure to explain your CID, MID, and that you have a Taiwan M8x.

4. The option you least want - don't update.

If it's at all possible, try contacting someone in Taiwan and going for the first option.

Drop a line or email to HTC USA support. They won't have the file you need but might be able to put you in touch with someone in Asia.

Here's the only other thread I found discussing your issue - unfortunately - they found the KitKat RUU for your phone but no one has posted back with the Lollipop one -

Ask there too, maybe someone has a way to find it.
