Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

oh really? like Enron? WorldCom? or more recently - Bear Stearns? Lehman Brothers? corporate executives make mistakes all the time - and many times those mistakes are fatal. i also submit that one should never be overly impressed with academic credentials.

some of us here know a thing or two about business and have had some level of success. regardless - this is a discussion forum and a demand to stifle the discussion is what provides no value here.

The point I'm making is they're not idiots either. Sprint has made their fair share of mistakes, we ALL know that. But to say you know more than they, and then throw a hissy-fit when it doesn't pan out to how you called it is plain stupidity.

And your post seems to extend the value greatly, sir. Do carry on.

I would if I really thought it was in his best interest.. But i do not believe T-mobile will be a major player against sprint..

I also believed at the end of the day after weighing their options T mobile will be using wimax for their 4g service later down the road, if Wimax 2 is rolled out..
i thought I read recently a web article that stated T-Mobile is thinking of using Wimax also.

Hey i was joking about my credentials...I have NO credentials when it comes to business...thus my last line.

keatre, i understand and respect your arguement...but i guess here is my point...what happened with the pre? was that not horridly executed? unless you have some sort of inside information telling me that whoever was in charge at that time of marketing is now gone, I can only go based on that track record....and frankly, it was bad.

i'd start buying some stock if i were you. ;)

they're calling it a "bundle plan" and they will not be able to provision the evo unless we have this new plan. that's not to say there will be any cost differences, i don't know about pricing yet.

i'm in chicago and am getting this information from the manager of the store i buy my products from. he started training last week as the store "advocate" for the phone. this means that he's going to be the in-store go to person for questions related to the phone. he's also the person that confirmed for me several weeks ago that it would be released on 6/6.

this isn't a contest to see who can get the best info. out here for everyone to share. rather it's a forum to share information that might help everyone here that's excited about a fantastic new product. since this is the speculations thread.... we'll see what happens but this is pretty solid stuff. :D

Could be right or could be wrong. I just can't imagine a new plan for the EVO. Reason being is because I would assume any data plan would be just right for it. I mean all the high features for the phone are mostly data related and I would assume any data plan that is already out on Sprint would cover it when it comes to that use. I would think the lowest plan you could have with the EVO is the 69.99.

I don't know all the ins and outs to this but it just makes sense to me that plans they already have would be just fine. I have the Simply Everything Plan. I don't see why I would have to go with this "bundle plan"

When and if you get more info please share. I'm doubting that's the case but if so, then you would help my curiosity out much.

I agree about sprint having a plan. You know they have people making way too much money just to sit around and come up with these marketing strategies and release dates. Atleast they took on the complaint that people have been making for SOOOO long about them not having a flagship device that is on par or better with the other companies flagships. Also about the iphone.. Even though I cant stand apple, Jobs, or the zombies we talk about; it has to mean something that every smartphone that comes out immediately gets compared to it. If your the grading scale for which every other comparible device gets judged then you've done something right....

you did TS, but i can't find it... they are going to use wimax, i think in partnership with sprint if i'm not mistaken

It is not a definite, it is an option that T-mobile has explored. Everyone is waiting to see what their options are.

My money is on Wimax for several reasons..

that was my point. we are obviously here because we like the EVO and Sprint 4G.

keep in mind that none of the existing plans have anything to do with a 4g device. since 4g is going to be new, it's completely conceivable that spring would create a new plan to provision this under.

i'll gladly continue to share anything i find out that seems credible.

So Wimax will work for GSM networks?

No not at all. It will be a separate network..

I do believe it will be a extremely worldwide available network..

A network that will surpass existing network coverage and also be available in areas that no other networks will reach..

Actually I hate to admit this but Sprint is scarred. They are making some great moves and I hope for the best and think they will do well..

Clearwire is the company you need to keep an eye on in my opinion.. I would by stock in them pronto..

Sprint owns 51%, so they win anyway. :)

spar10, that's some good thinking right there!!!!

what if there is no extra for 3g....but if you want 4g, it's extra and comes with tethering?

I honestly do not believe there will be any extra charge for 4g.. I do think they will charge extra for the hotspot app. regardless if it is on the 3g or 4g network..

You will have to get new plans if you buy the EVO but the pricing will be the same regardless if you are on the 3g or 4g network only the hotspot app probably will cost more ( as I think it should cost more to use) the 4g coverage is just not there yet

Your killing me Smalls.... So if clearwire is coming out with a device does that mean it will be sold through clearwire as their own retail/phone store or will it be with Sprint?

Sorry to post this again but not getting any replies on the other thread......

I just called Tmobile to ask them about my contract and make sure it was over. When I did the Rep asked me why I was asking. I told him I was going to switch to Sprint for the EVO and 4g network. At this point he was like... "WHATTT?!! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!!!" at which point I replied "Because the EVO is far Superior than any other phone that you offer and with the upcoming 4G network it will make it that much better!". He then went on to tell me that I should stick with TMOBILE and wait for the MY TOUCH 2, and that this phone was a combination of the EVO and HD2. (lol) He also told me about the HSPA+ network that TMOBILE is rolling out this year. He said that this network is FARRR faster than 4G or LTE, with download speeds peaking at 20mbps.!!! I thanked him for his time and went on the internetz and did a little looking around. I found a few articles on HSPA+.

Here's one link on PCMAG's site
WiMAX vs. HSPA+: The Hands-On Test - WiMAX vs. HSPA+ Roundup | PCMag.com

From what I've read so far it seems true... HSPA+ will be faster than 4G/LTE.
I guess the only downside would be the 5GB cap on HSPA+ but its still to early to tell if they will even have a cap.
So my question is this... Has anyone here had any experience with HSPA+ and what are the advantages or disadvantages? Should I stick around and wait it out?? Or should I dive into the new 4G network and the EVO?
Dive into the new 4g network and the evo. You won't regret doing it. Plus Sprint is a better network then T-mobile and you'll have better coverage as well. :)
