Help Rejected calls still going through to voicemail

I have started getting a rash of calls from telemarketers (even though I am on the do not call list). I did the auto reject thing which does reject the call but it still shows in my call log, but most annoyingly, the calls go through to voicemail which is VERY annoying.
The VMs are 9 seconds long and I get the alerts telling me I have them and the whole thing is annoying.
How can I block these auto rejected numbers from leaving voicemails too?

T Mobile's solution was to spend 4.99 a month on some plan to do it.
There are 3rd party apps apparently, but not all of them seem to have great reviews.

This is really annoying.

Galaxy s5, running Lollipop.

Don't see how an app can do this since it's a network function and not something that happens locally on the phone. The only thing I can think of that would work is to answer the call and then immediately hang up, maybe there is an app that does it that way? Perhaps this is something that could be automated with Tasker.

I have a similar question.

I didn't even know there was a function on the phone for auto reject until a few weeks ago. So I started using it.

My question is: How can I verify if this is working? Is this an app? Is there somewhere on the phone where I can go that shows phone numbers that I put on the auto reject list? For example, what if I put someone on the auto reject list, but then want to remove them from the auto reject? How would I do that?

I too am getting bombarded with calls from all over the country. Half of them are from the cable company I'm sure. They seem to have hundreds of outfits do their bidding, calling from every state in the nation.

No need for Tasker. I've had good results with Advanced Call Blocker.

It will answer and hang up without sending the call to voicemail.
It will notify you when a number has been rejected.
It lets you build a reject list by individual numbers, number patterns, etc.
The numbers on the reject list can be viewed.
It will let you remove numbers from the reject list.

Should meet all the requirements listed in the posts above.

When you suggest an app to solve a problem, it would be really helpful to provide the link to the one you reference.
I just did a search and there are several using the same name, but from different developers... all trying to tag onto the Best guy's reputation of course.

I found no less than 5 apps with the exact same name, but different developers....
I appreciate your help with the name, but I have no interest in trying out umpteen dozen different apps and duplicating your efforts to find "the one" that will actually resolve the problem.

When I suggest an app, I try to always provide the link so readers can get to that one, and not have to wade thru a whole list of stuff that is only marginally close to what they want.
this picture does not show all the apps with the same precise name you suggest, more follow if you scroll down.

I have a BIG BEEF with the Play Store.... when doing a search for a specific name... why in the hell can't the results be restricted to "only that name" ?? I'm sure the other guys are using Tags to bring their apps up first...

I have one bit of a problem with using Call Blockers.
How would you set Advanced Call Blocker up to reject the TeleMarketers and not reject the Doctor's Office calls?

My wife is a Type II Diabetic, already has the peritoneal dialysis port.... and we get a lot of calls from different phone numbers that the different office employees seem to have access to.... I cannot afford to miss a single call from them...

Therefore, I suffer from the same crap everyone else does, TeleMarketers..... when I hear one of those, I just hit the # key until they hang up.... that number usually never bothers me again.

the problem got so bad, that I had to change my phone number.... so far, doing fairly good.... at least the rate of junk calls has been reduced to something manageable.

@AZgl1500:

Sorry, I usually do supply a link. A check of my posts will show that. I just spaced pasting it in this time. I still had the app URL in my clipboard. Here is:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=us.wahooka.advanced.call.blocker

As for your issue with call blockers, it doesn't work like you're thinking it does. Not quite.

ACB will block calls by a wide choice of criteria - number, a number pattern, not in contacts, email address, area code, international numbers, etc etc. There's lotsa options.

But you cannot just say, to use your example, block Telemarketers. Call blockers don't know if a caller is a telemarketer or your doctor, exactly as you said. So filtering by terms like telemarketer or bill collector simply doesn't apply.

Plus, you can put key numbers in an exception list, ensuring they are never blocked,

IOW, as long as you don't define overly broad filters, you have nothing to worry about. I've used ACB for years and it has never caused me to miss an important call.

thank you very much, I will download that one immediately. :)

Spaced Out! oh, do I ever do that sometimes..... that is the greatest danger that I have because of my 120 wpm finger tips..... they run in front of my brain cells way too often........

I can appreciate the options of trying to narrow down a group of numbers. I once thought I would just block anything with an 800- prefix.... well, law.de.daw wouldn't you know, our Medicare Pharmacy uses 800 numbers on all of their lines . so much for that idea.

again, thanks for the link, now I will go play with it awhile and learn its' nuances. ;)

Hi, I use an app called Calls Blacklist, it works by you entering the number that dialled into the list, it means you have to manually reject the call and then enter it, but you will never be bothered by that number again, and best of all it's free, it also lets you block texts. Phil

p.s. I don't know how to put a link in, but if you go to the Play Store and search Calls Blacklist it will come up.

I appreciate all these comments, but no one could answer my original question. Which was how do I access the auto reject feature that came with the phone? Is it not accessible? Maybe that one is good enough for me, but I don't know where it is?

Hi, I don't know if this helps
