Help Alcatel One Touch Evolve 2 issues

essannekay

Newbie
I recently got a new phone (alcatel evolve 2, Metro PCS) and have had nothing but issues since I got it. For one, it seems to have a mind of its own. When I press the lock button, it'll either not respond or only the home, back, and menu buttons light up. Also, I know I am paying for 4G lte data, but the status bar only says 3G no matter where I am. My apps are constantly crashing when I am using them. I have never had this issue with any other phone, so I'm not sure what to do. I've only had the phone for about a week, hasn't been damaged, restarting it helped for a little while but the problems returned shortly after.

Adding to this, my phone has also recently been restarting itself CONSTANTLY. Any helpful input is greatly appreciated.

You may have a faulty device. A new phone shouldn't give you those problems so you should return it for a replacement.

So, I took my phone to the store and got sent to two other locations before they told me they couldn't do anything and I would have to call the manufacturer. One problem with that, I don't have a working phone. I don't know what to do now.

What version of Android is it running?
Is it 5.0.2 by any chance? Lol

As cliche as it sounds, try doing a factory reset and wipe the cache partition. That might help

I've tried every reset I can. It won't turn on.
Well first of all, from what I can tell the one touch evolve 2 is NOT a 4G phone.
I may be wrong, that's what GSM area says) . so if you are paying for 4G service and you got a 3G phone you're getting screwed.

Also, by " won't turn on " you mean its totally dead? No lights, nothing?

If it's dead as a hammer then its def faulty equipment.
It should at least boot to recovery if the OS were corrupted

Haha, figures.

You can borrow a phone and call Alcatel but idk how much good that'd do.
They will want you to ship it to them and back, which will take weeks.
You do have a 1 year manufacture warranty on the device but honestly, I'd put it back on Metro.
I'd be yelling and throwing things until I get acceptable service :)
