LG Stylo & Syncing with PC . . .

OneMore

Newbie
First - As I posted in my introduction thread . . .

Been lurking for a few years around the "AndroidForums" to find out information as needed for the Android products I have. BTW: Which has been GREAT to do and found some very helpful hints and solutions to the situations/problems I experienced along the way, although I have never "rooted" any of these products.

However, for the past week, ever since I got an LG Stylo I have been searching the forum and online, but I cannot find a solution anywhere for the issue/problem I am having now. Given that, I have finally become a member to see if I can get any assistance from the more experienced people here.

OH - Maybe I need to say I am not a "Techie", so please be gentle with an "Old Curmudgeon" while he is visiting . . . THANKS ! ! ! :-D

Now back to this post . . .

Okay - All You Techie People I need some assistance here . . . I have been searching the internet for the past 3 days to try to find what I need, alas could not find anything, unless it was very questionable to use (app/program from unknown or dubious source) or too expensive for "Me" . . .

Here is the situation/issue:

Finally moved Cell service and have a new phone - the LG 3 Stylo; with the sync program provided by LG - LG Bridge . . .

The Major Problem:

I cannot sync My Outlook Contacts and Calendar directly to the phone - nor it's internal memory, especially since the LG Bridge Program requires you to connect to the Internet and also link to either a Gmail/FB account or set one up with LG (which I really would rather not doing - but have and now deleted since the program failed to work as promised) . . .

Worse - Even after I followed all the instructions, the program keeps mentioning the phone will not connect to My PC, although I can see it as a new "Drive" and can access it to transfer files from the pc to the phone which I have done . . .

Also compound this with the fact that it seems that all Android Phones and Google are insisting that all data is going to be shared - even if You DO NOT want to share it between platforms . . . AND - Before anyone asks - NO, I really do not want to link My Phone to Google Contacts & Calendar . . . Nor even a Cloud . . . I want to keep that information separate, especially since I have certain contacts I keep in My phone that I only want in My Phone and no where else (I do not "share" My Friends personal information with anyone, especially without them knowing) . . .

SO - What I am looking for is a program (or a workaround) that I can use that will specifically transfer MS Outlook Contacts & Calendar Information from PC to Phone and Phone To PC when connected via a USB . . .

Anyone with any suggestions . . . OH Yea - Hopefully it will be free too . . .

THANKS ! ! ! :D

Try searching the Google play store. There is an Outlook app for android. It shows a pc style calendar. It might sync better with appointments. I never used it though.

@DB225 & @Sept1967 . . .

Thank you both for your suggestions, however what I am looking for is a program that I can use on my PC to link the LG Stylo via a usb cable and not either an app or a cloud.

AND - While I do know that Android phones are made specifically to integrate with Google services, I would really prefer not having to go this route.

In the past, I used the MicroSoft sync program that used to work with a number of phones, including the Treo 750 which I had for over 8 years. Also used a program from Motorola for the Razor, I think it was called Motorola PC Suite. AND - With my last phone - Samsung Galaxy III there was Samsung Kies program that was able to sync with the PC to exchange and/or update information/files via a usb cable. Matter of fact, I know there were other free programs on the internet that would do the same thing too, so I never really had a problem like this before.

The funny thing is, usually a number of the phone makers normally have their own program that will allow for easy syncing their phones with a PC and MS Outlook program without having to go through all the hope of connecting to other resources, including clouds.

BTW: I do not know if this would be important to know, although I do have a couple of different internet email accounts that I do access via the web, I have no intention of using any email programs directly on the LG Stylo. I only access my personal email (from an isp) on My PC, where I can download them and respond accordingly.

Why not using the LG-Sync just go to their website n search for it

Why not using the LG-Sync just go to their website n search for it

YES, search the LG Website . . .

Already done so for the past 3 days even before coming here.

As for LG Sync and LG PC Suite, these programs are no longer available, especially for the LG Stylo. The only program LG (Contacted LG Support too) mentions will supposedly work with this smartphone is the LG Bridge. AND - After my chat discussion today with LG Support again, none of these programs will properly work with the LG Stylo - nor does LG have any intention of providing one in the near future either . So the search is still being done . . . ;)

Ok I'll be looking around.

Ok I'll be looking around.

THANK YOU . . . Any and all help and suggestions are greatly appreciated. . .

BTW: Just tried the following Sync programs . . . SnapPea and Coolmuster Android Assistant . . . They too were a no go, given that they could not connect with the LG Stylo via a USB connection. Which is very strange given that I can access the LG Stylo and the internal sd card via the USB as another drive on my PC. (Scratches Head in confusion ;) )

and you did install the LG Drivers right?

No - Not "rooted" and really have no intention on doing so at this time.

Just one of the first programs I considered and even tried, however it could not find/connect to phone. :(

http://d-h.st/REDS the updated version of LG PC Suite

AH - Sorry to say that the link you provided lead me to a site where the first 2 downloads actually would not open and the 3rd had malware attached to it. Thankfully the security programs I used stopped it from openning and downloading the program/malware.

and you did install the LG Drivers right?

YEP - Sure did . . . Not only via the LG Stylo (as instructed during the first connection via the usb port), but from the LG website.

Another Update to follow . . .

Follow-up . . .

For the past 2 days I have download, installed, tried programs, uninstalled (using Revo uninstaller program), used CCLeaner, and restarted my pc for approximately 12+ programs - Some of them included:

Mobil Go
Mobiledit
Droid Explorer
Android PC Suite
Outlook Contacts Transfer Console Trial
MoboRobo
SyncML Client for MS Outlook
CompanionLink
DejaOffice
GO Contact Sync
SnapPea
Coolmuster Android Assistant

Most of these would not either find the LG Stylo - nor connect no matter what I did, including to open the USB Debugging mode while also setting the USB connection to the Media Device (MTP) as instructed.

I even found a good copy of the LG PC Suite v5, which I installed. However, as expected it would not connect to the LG Stylo, since it was not supported and I was instructed to download a copy of the LG Bridge instead.

Only one program was finally able to connect and access the LG Stylo using the trial copy of the program - which totally destroyed any and all contacts I already had in the phone and wreaked havoc on the calendar and I lost anything that was entered.

SO - I am left at a loss what to do . . .

All I want in my LG Stylo contacts and calender is what I already have in MS Outlook Contacts and Calendar and without having to actually type everything in - which would takes weeks to do. Nor be forced to merge everything with Google to then download to the phone.

BTW: I do not do email via the phone, I use my pc to download and answer email when I see fit, so using the MS Exchange is not an answer either.

So - Does anyone have a suggestion/s for a work around. Is there a way to create an export file that would included MS Outlook Contacts and Calendar that could be imported to the LG Stylo? Or a separate Export File for each ? And, if there is a way - would someone give me some simple directions how to do this ?

Or - Does anyone else know of a FREE Program I can use to transfer this information using a USB cable connected to my PC and the LG Stylo ?

Thanks . . .

Most if not all of the transfer programs are media transfers ie Music, Pictures and Videos. to transfer contacts on the other hand you would need to either use google's contact cloud which only works with your email address so you sign out contacts won't show up anymore, or LG Back up which simply backs up everything on the phone via the phone app but i have no idea if it has a PC.exe file to go with it

Your best option its to become a google.partner... Cus all those stuff you want to do on android google has solution like itune for apple, outlook for windows

Are you able to browse your Stylo through Windows explorer?
I will assume yes, and not clutter up thread with solutions to that now...let me know if NO.
Your Mobil Go entry IS Wondershare MobileGo? IF so, how far did you get with it?
This is the solution, but since you said it doesn't work I assumed some outlook interface bug.
(Those of you wanting it, Google "Android import contacts from pc" the first software entry, or the second and third ACTUAL ones are it. The Android Transfer entry provides a fast download + no pesky confirmations or what have you).
This program usually provides a 30 day trial...my copy has no restrictions, maybe cause it's an earlier version...it's been a long time.
IGNORE INITIAL ERROR MESSAGE(top towards right):
Can't read your phone, etc.(notice upper left says Stylo).
There will also be another message on the lower left, don't remember what it is, click to confirm this even though screen looks greyed out / frozen.
You'll now notice in upper left, where it said Stylo, MS-631(spell?).

DISCLAIMER: I did NOT go all the way, BUT, I could immediately see all my phone contacts, ready for various actions...And the other way, I was immediately prompted to retrieve contacts from a bunch of computer choices- including outlook express n outlook 201x.

Apart from all this, I'm curious why importing thru stock email app is not satisfactory to you.
Is it because they wind up in somebody's(carrier) cloud?

Good luck, hope 30 days free helps you...back them up in as many different file formats & hardware devices as possible...you'll at least be able to do what you want by cobbling different freewares- this one does this but not that, this other one handles this file format but not the other one.

First - Thanks for posting this information . . .:D

Now . . .

Are you able to browse your Stylo through Windows explorer?
I will assume yes, and not clutter up thread with solutions to that now...let me know if NO.

YES - Can access the Stylo via Win Explorer with no problems. Even transferred a number of files I wanted on the Stylo too . . . :)

As for the Wondershare MobilGo - I didn't get to far with it at all given that it limited it's use unless you pay for it and since I am on an extremely limited budget (being disabled and an old man aka: senior citizen) that is a no go for me.

Apart from all this, I'm curious why importing thru stock email app is not satisfactory to you.
Is it because they wind up in somebody's(carrier) cloud?

Well to be perfectly honest here - In this day and age of "Sharing" everything with everyone so freely - I guess that I am "OLD SCHOOL" when it comes to privacy and sharing my friends information with others, especially their personal information like telephone numbers & email address that they gave to me . . . AND - While I am pretty sure there is no one that really wants to see or know the information I have stored anywhere, especially in some cloud (wouldn't help them anyway, since I do not have anything or know anyone of importance to anyone else but me). More importantly, I would rather not have their personal information available somewhere else that I cannot control and/or limit access too somehow, especially given that they entrusted me with this information . . . ;)

BTW: I do not use any stock email app/programs to access any private emails via a phone. Matter of fact, other then a few emails I get using a couple of different Gmail accounts, I usually see NO NEED to do so at all. If there is an emergency of some kind and someone needs to contact me - then those people know how to call me directly.

Again - THANKS ! ! ! :D

I take it you want a permanent free.

I thought being able to sync all now would help...then when you have more some freeware could back up to sd card, swap it out, then another freeware could import...it is kludgy...

At any rate, you have much more knowledge about what you seek, while I'm only speculating.

I sincerely wish you all the best in this search!

Hello OneMore Newbie: were you ever able to solve the problem of synchronizing Outlook on you PC to your LG Stylo 3 you worked on two years ago?
