SlingBox vs Android TV

I have Slingbox, the box is located in the U.S. and I'm in Thailand. It's connected to Direct TV, so I can get hundreds of channels, including movies, TV series, sports events, etc.
If I get an Android TV box here in Thailand, will I be able to get the same choices I get with Slingbox?
Are there different Android TV boxes with different choices?

If you use a VPN that gives you an IP address in the States you should be able to get Hulu, Netflix, and Direct TV, but you'll have to log-in with your account details. What's available locally, all varies by the particular country you're in, and in Thailand, you'll get services that are available there.

If you install the Slingplayer app on your Android box, that will connect with your Slingbox back home, and be able to stream that as well.

I do have a stateside VPN, so if Android gets me Direct TV, I'll jettison my Slingbox(after I'm sure Andr;oid works!)
