Help Malware Problem

My wife came to me last night and said she "clicked on something" and now gets a porn popup every now and then. (It was HER....not me!!)

While browsing the web....a small porn box opens mid screen....when clicking on it...it redirects to http://www.aak.mobi/lovestore.apk.

I don't know if this installed anything or not.

I have gone into downloads and deleted lovestore.apk to no avail. It looks like it is set to reload at startup.

I have downloaded a startup manager....but can't seem to find the file I would need to stop.

Anybody else seen this? or have a way to delete this crap?

Ron

Does the pop up occur when you visit a certain favorite site? Oftentimes it's the ad service a site uses that's infected and eventually they remove/fix it after a while. That's my only personal experience. I have Lookout installed but as far as I know it's never flagged or detected anything. Not sure if it can remove something after the fact. It scans apps before allowing it to install.
Avast is another one you might want to try.

So far....it seems like it might have been adware. Malwarebytes didn't find it....but a Lookout scan found an adware program GEMCRUSH.... My wife has a gazillion of those slot machine type games on her Galaxy TAB Pro. So far so good.

Probably a proxy redirect. Try going to menu>settings>applications and locate your browser. From there clear data and reboot. If that doesn't clean it up, and you aren't rooted, a factory reset should wipe it out.

Thanks.....but I haven't gotten the popup for a while now....but I will keep this Just in Case!

Bonjour I am french, but i meet the idem problem. i have destroy (j'ai supprimé) a play call "cake paradise", and do, il have no problem with porn gifs. I hope my language correctly.

You can TRY a factory reset, which will restore the phone to out-of-the-box condition. You will lose your user apps, data and settings. Worse: if these apps installed themselves as system apps, not even a factory reset will remove them, because a factory reset does not erase anything in the /system partition... just /data.

This malware is becoming more prevalent... and the only true fix is to send the tablet to Samsung for a reflash of the operating system. I know that's not what you want to hear, but it's what I have for you with the information you've given us.

Good luck and let us know how it ends!
