power button doesn't work

This is on my S5 replacement phone from Verizon wireless. It was working fine Friday night, then it just stopped working. I can't lock my phone if I need to, I can't turn off my phone (thankfully) and if it does turn off im pretty much screwed, cause i have no way to turn it on. If it the button is pressed, nothing happens at all. Like i said, it was working fine friday night and then it just stopped on friday night. Is there any way to repair this particular button if it is just the button? I can't remember if the replacement phone from Verizon is under any warranty at all.

Is it rooted/ I have had that happen with my phone a few times (just today in fact). Each time I pull the
battery for a few minutes and then reinstall. Don't know why it works, but it does for me.

how long since you received that replacement from VZW?
I have found them pretty easy to work with when you explain the situation.
I never buy their insurance... the deductible is more than a used phone :(, especially in the old days before smartphones.

I was just in town today and a new store has opened up called "Cellphone Surgeon".
I asked them what they would charge to fix your Power Button?

answer? $45.00

call them at 918.986.8222

or http://www.cellphonesurgeon.repair/

for some reason, my DNS is not picking up on the ".repair" yet...

am scanning their business card.... this is a brand new chain.

well as luck would have it, turns out not to be the power button at all. It was the stupid case not in contact with the button. Something so simple.

Great, I have had simple things cause me some immense problems in the past.

ie, my daughter's Sony laptop is 6 years old, MicroSloth keeps adding more junk to the OS, and slowing it down.
maybe even some 'bots setting on it calling home to mama...

so, I wiped it clean and installed PCLinuxOS....
didn't know a thing about Linux before 2 days ago, I got a real fast bath in the process, but it is running now and 3 times faster than it was before.

Galaxy S5 power button stopped working. Problem SOLVED!
Right to the point. My power button stopped working and it was surely the button not working. To turn on, I had to hold the volume down (-) button and the home button while I plug in my charger. (All other forums will tell you volume down and plug phone into pc or laptop. Any charger works and on my phone, I also had to hold the home button as well). Go to cancel and restart phone.
Now your phone is back on but the power button still doesn't work. I fixed mine durine a phone call. With my phone up to my ear talking on the phone, I pressed the power button and seen my phone light up like I took it away from my face. I don't know how, but that made my power button work again! Good luck and I hope this was helpful!
