Storage/Memory Problem

Roadie4life

Lurker
I purchased an LG G Stylo 634 at Cricket Wireless 2 months ago. I have already had to reset the phone 5 TIMES!! There must be a pre-loaded program that is downloading a tremendous amount of data. I get an alert on my phone that I am running low on storage and that some features will not work. I do a reset and will have 2 Gb of storage space to start. Within 10 days to 2 weeks the same thing happens again. I have only downloaded about 10 apps and I go in and clear out the cache a few times a day. I emailed LG and all they could come up with is to go in and clear the cache...This is my first "smart-phone" and I am getting really frustrated having to start from scratch every 2 weeks.Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do to fix it??

What apps do you have installed? A list would help. Also just a quick tip I would not recommend downloading battery saving apps or anything that "clears junk" and as well as Antivirus/security apps.
Edit: Also I believe the cricket version has 8gb of storage available but only what maybe 6 or less are available to the user so that can explain your issue.

Both the Boost and Cricket Stylos got ripped in storage. Maybe try adding a cheap sd card to it. See if any aps can be off loaded to it. You dont need to start from scratch. Just clear the apps cache or data in settings.

i also have this phone but i also have it unlocked, rooted and a 16g memory card and i still have a memory issue..i have reset phone many times and still having same issue.please help me

According to your screenshot it looks like you have an 8gb model. But that's strange if you have MetroPCS o_O

Well you have the 8gb model which is the crippled model of the original Stylo (16gb) If you're rooted I'd look into Link2SD but I don't know what else you could do.

I'm having this exact same issue I have no apps, pics, music, or documents other than the ones that came with the phone. I added an 8 gb sd and it didn't help. I can no longer receive text and I constantly get errors so I can't use the phone. I once found a solution that said to dial the "MMI" code *#9900# but it didn't work for the lg g stylo please help.

Is your phone Boost/Virgin/Sprint or what? Do you know how to move apps to sd? It's difficult to easily explain the steps to determine your exact problem. You'll need to say which version of Android you are using. Can you do a screenshot of your storage page like in post #4 above? You might have to do screenshots of your apps so we can help you figure out what to do. Could you do a screenshot of the exact error you get, or at least write exactly what the error says. We can try to help, but we need much more info.

See if you can install this simple little app called Storage Truth. It's very small and will install in very limited space but it sounds like you may not have enough even for this. It will tell you how much space you actually have left for installing apps:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sa.storagetruth

To make space you can:

Delete texts or emails. If you have a lot saved on the phone, this can help.

Delete or move photos, videos, documents, etc.

Uninstall app updates.

Uninstall apps.

Clear cache files. However, this will only make space temporarily as cache files will rebuild over time. Also, while clearing cache files won't hurt anything, they're there to speed up operation and should be left alone.

If you can't move stuff to a SD card, move them to your computer or cloud storage.

I have cricket carrier. I tried to clean as many aps cache that I could take the screen shot for you guys and luckily it allowed me to do a screenshot normally it doesn't let me do screenshots, sms and my call log doesn't work. I'm not getting the message now because I have a little but of memory but I'll upload the exact error when I receive it later on. Thanks

What I posted before still applies. Nothing is broken. The only fix is to make some space. With only 13MB free it's surprising the phone runs at all.

You have 7.63GB in Misc. I suspect a lot of gamer stuff in there. Something has to go. Clearing caches is pointless. Look elsewhere to free up space.

So I have a ZTE Warp Sync that I just purchased a few days ago. I'm not a noobie which is no biggie to those who are. My issue is my last Lollipop driven device the LG Leon I could move a few apks to my SD card. I knw this is a different phone but I am also running LP 5.1.1 on it aswell. I run custom ROMs on all my devices as I am a rooted "Superuser" however SD fix apks says there is no need to use an app like such because I already have ability to write/move apks/data to my ext SD card yet when I try to move an apk etc. it will not allow me to do so. Any suggestions anyone?

Settings - general - backup & reset - factory data reset

Ya I could just partition one of my class 10 Sandiscs and use Links or Apps to SD. Or maybe even an "SD Hack" however that isn't the best thing for an SD Card or its life. & no I do have plenty of memory actually like 4 and a half G's and a 32 gig class 10 sandisc. I just like to be efficient as possible and know all I possibly can about Android, root, roms, and custom kernels etc.

Using the app linkers described seems to be OK for SD card life. I move the apk, dex, lib, and obb files. Nothing else. That's because those parts only change when an app needs to be upgraded or uninstalled. They don't change every second, like data files. I have cards on a couple of older phones that have been used with rooted devices, and they all work well to this day. The one on my 4-year-old LG Optimus V still works great. I've had it as long as I've had the phone, which still works relatively well, even with the OC'd CPU. The other card (PNY 32 GB Class 4) that I pulled from a Kyocera Event is at least 2 years old, and is in my G Stylo until I get the Class 10 UHS 3, 64 GB card on Wednesday from B&H. No problems with that one, either. YMMV I guess! :)

link2sd bro. see when you move an app to the sd card you only move the apk and lib files. you need link2sd pro to link the entire app to the sd cache, data and all. also you'll need to partition your sd card to make this work

Ya idk ive had to cards burn out on me. but its prob due to my re-partitioning so often and running swap on the cards as well. Myself I use to partition & run these sweet "SD hacks" buy a cat called Warranty Voider in the forums here. But ya the hack were only for the LG F6 & I don't own that device any longer. They were bad ass tho for real. His (Data on SD) hack was my fav. You would literally see how even many Gigs of memory you added with what you partitioned it to right there in settings/storage. My F6 had like maybe I wanna say 2 2 & a half gigs stock. if I created say a 7 gig partition off a 16gig SD card then I could turn my internal memory into 9 gigs. & it would literally read 9gigs instead of 2 within storage under settings options. lol Ya they could be a lil tricky to run at first & didn't run well on anything but a class 10 so that's what I meant by the class 10 thing. So you say partition isn't hard on SD cards a? hmmmmm maybe I've been miss informed a lil. You should get with bcrichster in the forums here and he can tell you more about what I don't know enough about partitionings downsides. Like I stated I use to partition & run links2sd pro and apps to SD all the time. But then realized I'm nt a gamer and I would have a crap ton of memory I didn't need. then I heard it wasn't really good on you're SD card to do it anyway I stopped. But I'm gonna do some research & if it comes back that partitioning you're SD and using Links2 or Apps2 SD arent the least bit rough on a cards lifespan, I'm biotin into TWRP after I upload my sd's contents to mega & partitioning my 32 g sandisk class 10 & downloading either Links2SD PRO. or Apps to SD which is almost identical to links2sd. even had its own partition tool incase you're recovery doesn't have the partitioning option.
