Calendar app that notifies of new events

My wife and daughter have iPhones and we use a shared iCloud calendar for family events we all need to be aware of.
I'm currently using SmoothSync to bring in the iCloud events and that's working OK, but I would like to get notification of new events that come in from that calendar as sometimes they are days in the future and I won't immediately notice they've been added.
Is there an alternate sync or calendar app that can notify me of new calendar events that I haven't added?

Correction. I used to use SmoothSync, but am currently using "Sync for iCloud Calendar" by ArpaMT.
