Newbie
Hello i was told that my phone is a CDMA since it has MEID 14 digits when i type in the *#06# instead of 15. I would like to take this phone to another carrier but they only use unlocked GSM is there any workaround. Thanks

Update: Also My phone takes a Sim Card I has an ATT card in it now. Is it a dummy card or something I thought CDMA do not take sims

No work arounds period. The radios on the phones are made for CDMA, so you are with Verizon or Sprint or a partner.

If you change to AT&T, you will need a different version of the S5....
CDMA phones quit being dedicated to a carrier when Smartphones came out, all are using SIMs now.

My Galaxy S5 and Note 4 use the same SIM, I just move it back and forth depending on which phone I want to carry with me.

You can't just use the MEID to figure out if it is CDMA, but you can use this to find out.

First thank you for the reply. I downloaded the app and found that under the IMEI number it still shows the same 14 digit numbers. Is there an area that would say CDMa or MEID in the app that i didn't find

IMEI/MEID are synonymous, look under SETTINGS > About phone on your device for the info.....................

Thank you for your post.

There are currently 41 different models of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and over 3,000 different stock Samsung firmware versions, worldwide, covering 6 different Android platforms, Android 4.4.2, Android 4.4.4, Android 5.0, Android 5.0.1, Android 5.0.2 and Android 5.1.1. Not all issues will affect all models or firmware releases and your answers to the following questions will help in the forum's answers to your specific query.

#1. Could you post your Model number and Android version...

To locate these, go to...

Settings > More > About device > Model number and Android version

This will give you the model of Samsung Galaxy S5 that you have and which Android version you are on.

If you want to move to a non CDMA network, as AZ says, your best option is to sell your device and use that money towards a new phone

model is SM-G900P
Android 5.0

You do indeed have a CDMA model of Galaxy S5. The Sprint model G900P. This can successfully be used on a number of U.S. networks, such as, Boost, Credo, FreedomPop, Republic, RingPlus, Ting, and Virgin. It will also work on 2G and 3G only, on a great many more U.S. networks, including AT&T. For more information, see Will My Phone Work?
