Help new stylo acting up (mpcs variant)

xyourxhighnessx

Android Enthusiast
i bought two of these last week from a metro pcs"authorized retailer"

one works flawlessly. mine on the other hand is giving me various problems.

1) apps randomly close (without error msg) or it appears i hit the back bottom (bottom most left button) even though my fingers arent on the screen at all.

2) phone will appear as if theres a glitch....it freezes momentarily then kicks me out to the home screen once again without error msg.

3) as of today it would randomly reboot itself. its hAppened maybe 5 times today.

im not rooted.
i don't have any error msgs popping up
i dont have many apps on my device minus kik...flud....android pay etc. all the rest are stock or google apps like photos and google camera etc.

should i return it to a metro pcs corporate store for A new one? or is there a fix?

i think my firmware is 10j or j10 or something like that. im running 5.1.1

Do you have any apps installed outside of the play store? And have you tried factory reseting your device? If that doesn't help you might have a faulty device which in this case your best bet is to go to metro and see what they can do for you.

Well I am sorry about your problems with your new phone,I would start by doing a factory reset.
This should fix the issues you have.

well i just tried to take it back to mpcs and of course they gave me a line of crap about how its a little too closing and they cant "just cant give you" a new phone and so on.

i see why google has them reviewed at a whopping 1.8 stars

funny.last phone i returned within the alotted time were returned right away. this one is under warranty and im still screwed.

smh.

hope i get lucky enough to receive a 6.0 update that hopefully fixes it. otherwise i have another unusable phone

If you paid for insurance they have to take it back, if not on the insurance then yeah within 7 days I thought... Still refuse to take it back then root and twrp it and try a custom rom or factory reset...

Someone else in a facebook group for the stylo had a dead spot on their touchscreen where the upper left corner wouldn't accept touches every once in awhile and they did a factory reset and that fixed it.

Wait, was it more than 7 days? They are a stickler about that.

i guess its my own fault as far as my return hassles.the sheet they make you sign as Apart of the purchase says "all sales on phones with discount/promotion discount are final sales and cannot be returned" or something to that affect.

guess its my fault for not dealing with a corporate store.but the warranty is for a year.

but yes i was under both the 7 day period as well as the 60 min of talk time.
i had 53 mins talk time and i bought it last Thursday and today is Tuesday for two more hrs

its weird that for a couple hrs this morning it was all wonky and glitchy/frequent automatic restarts and ever since its behaved properly. it comes in waves where its unusable for a while and then all the sudden it goes away for numerous hrs.

definitely something i havent experienced right off the bat with any fone

Did you port your number?

I ported mine and I tried to switch my original purchase of a Leon to a Stylo and they said I would lose my number. I just waited a month and then bought a used Stylo and did the switch then

Factory reset like others have said, that's the first thing to try if you can't think of an app that's doing this.

I did the factory reset last night.

Its about where it was When i first got it. Works great but an occasional glitch where the phone behaves as if i hit the back button without me actually doing so.

I think it really must be something wrong in the software.

Btw i thought a metro dealer has to take it back even if "all phones sold at a promotional price are final sales" if there was something wrong with the phone????

Either way i guess i still have claim to the warranty since its definitely a software defect not caused by me rooting or whatever. (generally i do root my devices but i didnt attempt it with this one)

Yeah, but the warranty process takes a long time than the store just switching out. PITA. Sorry, you have to go thru this.

Wasted 2 hrs at the corporate store and the one i bought it at. Its prettyclear metro won't help me unless i jump through hoops.

They said THEY have to factory reset it themselves and just because i did it the night before didn't mean anything.

Then said "if the problem comes back in a couple days to make sure i bring it in so they can witness it. Unless they witness it they wont honor the warranty.

Wtf. So basically thats a slick way of saying "camp out at our store or dont bother asking for a refund"

So i just pissed away 200 if u ask me

their return policies have gotten crappy since T-Mo bought them. Have you tried reinstalling the firmware?

I tried a one click root that hafway worked but wasnt giving me full root access but aparently enough to install twrp but it wasn't fully working ( the root method) soi un rooted. But now I'm not sure if I'm back on stock recovery or not

that blows my mind when someone says they don't have a pc. I mean its almost 2016 why wouldn't someone have at least one pc or windows tablet or even a crappy mac? but yeah like Blu8 said.

In my defense i just moved and let go of my old desktop fossil circa 2006/2007 lol.

Really i dont see the need in a laptop or desktop for majority of my uses theres an android equivalent so i get by with a phone and tablet only.

And thanks ill check the link!!
