Root Link2SD not recognizing 2nd partition ... Anyone know why?

Link2sd is half useless on a non rooted phone. Personally I prefer Link2sd to the native App2sd because Link2sd uses dedicated partition to store the data while App2sd just stores them with other users data.

I've never used Link2SD on an unrooted phone. I have tried Apps2sd... it's okay, but I've found it to be somewhat buggy compared to Link2SD.

Quick question to the OP: Are you running on Marshmallow or Lollipop? Been doing some reading here, and at xda developers. Some people say that they have MM on their G Stylo phones, while running root. Just got my phone today, and will test first this evening with a spare 32 GB card. Not going to activate it on Virgin Mobile yet, my current carrier. Thanks for any advice!
I’m on Lollipop. I’d love to go to Marshmallow, but so far it appears no one can find the adoptable storage option on the version floating around for the Stylo, and there is no root yet for it. Also, there are comments in the Play Store that Link2SD does not work on Marshmallow, and the developer has not put out a version since early last summer. He seems to have abandoned the app.

So if you want to move your apps to the card right now, it’s best to stay on Lollipop. Once you go to Marshmallow, I don’t think there’s a way to get back to Lollipop -- at least for the Boost/Sprint/VM Stylos.

I like the Stylo so much, I just bought a second one – the Boost variant because it has the FM radio, and I think it’s the only variant that has it enabled. I just took the partitioned 128gb card out of my first Stylo and put it in the second one, and it worked great with Link2SD. Didn’t have to repartition the card or anything.

Then I put a new 64gb micro sd card in my first Stylo. It was partitioned with MiniTool Partition Wizard. I don’t know exactly why, but Link2SD had no issues recognizing it … yet with my 128gb card, I had to use GParted on a Linux CD before I could get Link2SD to even see a 2nd partition. I think it has something to do with a quirk or limitation in the way large partitions on cards are created within the Windows OS, but am not sure.

Another thing about the Stylo I really like is that so far, Link2SD works flawlessly on it. I can move virtually every user app and all their parts to external. I have Link2SD on an LG Volt running stock KitKat and it’s been a little unstable compared to both Stylos.

i took your example, when i rooted and installed link2sd, and used the ext2 file system done with aparted.
i use a 32 gb card, but it worked when i got the order of the file systems just right.
good informative thread.
thanks.
