RAM Expander anyone ?

Anyone tried RAM Expander app ?

I don't really suffer from low RAM with my device (rooted Jelly Bean / 1GB) but it would be interesting to try something new.

From what I have read, the principe is to use a large swap file stored on a SD card. I wonder why can't we use the available amount of built-in memory to store the swap file instead of the SD card.

Real scenario would be the following: my device have 8GB of memory, the system took about half that amount leaving me with 4GB or so. Actually I have a large SD card installed and I don't need that 4GB, so it would be nice if I can use that partition as virtual RAM.

What do you think?

Tried an app called Swapper but it turns out that my phone doesn't support swap but uses some kind of cached pages instead.

RAM expanders don't work very well on PCs even with SSDs, what makes you think it would work well on an Android device?

It's my device that doesn't work with this app, but many users on Google Store are happy with it.
There's lotsa bogus boosters, optimisers, cleaners, managers etc etc that millions of people on the Play store are happy with. That doesn't make them right or such apps any less bogus.

There is just no way this app is gonna improve a phone.

To the best of my knowledge, I don't know that it's possible to change the swap without root and re-partitioning the SD card. Even at that, there is a limit to how much performance increase you will get.
