Help Bluetooth music intermittently cuts out

I am also have this issue with my Samsung Galaxy S5. When streaming Pandora through my 2012 Ford Focus via Bluetooth, it will randomly pause for a few seconds, and when it does start playing again, it plays in fast forward, like it's trying to catch up to where it should be had it not paused.
Every once in a while, Pandora will not start playing again, and the only thing I can do to get audio back is restart the phone.
I have also noticed this pause using Winamp.

I hope someone out there is trying to fix this, as it is very, VERY annoying!

So, since as long as I can remember, my Bluetooth sound has cut out intermittently, while listening. If I am in the car and the song is playing, the sound cuts out, every now and then, sometimes once or twice a song and lately, basically every few seconds, like a record skipping. It is just the sound, as the time on the song still continues. This is also happening when I use a BT speaker in the house, or BT earphones. It is driving me nuts! Yesterday, when I got in the car, the music started automatically as usual but started cutting out, so I unlocked the phone and checked to see what was going on and my SiriusXM app had started on it's own, so I exited that program and all seemed to work fine after that. But today, same thing, and I checked and no other audio program was running at the same time.
Could this be caused because the Gear watch is using BT as well? Also, sometimes when this is happening, my contacts etc, don't show through my car stereo and once they have synced it stops. But today again, the contacts had synced, but the music was still intermittent as hell!
I called tech support and they gave me this info and it seems to have fixed the problem go to settings>applications>application manager>all>Bluetooth then clear cache and clear data after that power off your phone, when turning it back on hold down the power button until the phone lights up then immediately hold down the "turn down volume button" (sorry for bad lingo) then open your phone (which should be in safe mode) and try your music, if it works without cutting out then restart your phone again and it should work <('')>

I've tried this fix in the past, and it didn't work for me. But I cannot speak to the newer phones.

I've had the problem occasionally with a Galaxy S5 but it only happens when the phone reaches 100% charge while connected in my car. It seems to me that when charging stops at 100% Bluetooth cuts out for moment. When my phone cycles through this I get the momentary drop outs. Needless to say I try not have a 100% charge when connecting to my car.

I am having a very similar issue. My Galaxy s6 will constantly connect and disconnect to my (2013) Prius by itself. This is a fairly recent issue, everything was working fine up until about two months ago. I suspect one of the software updates we received recently is the culprit. It happens consistently with phone calls, soundcloud and youtube. I've tried re-booting, clearing the bluetooth cache, deleting and recreating the connection in my car's infotainment system, clearing the device partition cache. The only thing I haven't tried is a factory reset. Hoping someone can chime in with a solution more appealing than a hard reset.

i am having the same issue, and it's quite annoying listening to audio books with the intermittent cuts. i don't have any advice (sorry!) but wanted to get on this thread as it seems active so i want to follow the future comments in case someone has a reliable fix.

GUYS,
I think I have the answer you've been and myself looking for. I was using Samsung s4 and now S6. No issues with S4 until I switch to S6 and really got on my nerve too. Atfer searching solutions I found 1 that worked for me. Go into your Bluethooth setting. When you pair your device on android click on the setting icon on the right of it. You will be asked if you want to use the device for call audio or media audio. Experiment with this. I tick both and that worked for me. No issues since.
Pass the word around. I do enjoy good music and I know how it is frustating but would not switch to Apple regardless.
Could do with a Pint now anyone? ;):)

I tried that. It didn't work for me.

I have a Note 5 right now but it's not my daily driver. My iPhone is, so I don't know if the issue has been somehow fixed.

After combing through a couple of different Prius forums, I found that text message syncing might be causing the issue. Someone suggested simply turning off the text message sync between my device and vehicle, and that seems to have solve the issue (so far). Doesn't seem ideal, but works for me.

I've had every Galaxy produced and never had a problem with streaming music. Every since I purchased the Galaxy S6 (Sprint) when I stream music via Bluetooth in my 2010 Infiniti the music constantly skips!! I can connect the phone to my 2015 BMW and it works just fine, I've also connected to rental cars with no problems and to my Bluetooth speaker in my home, again zero problems. Other devices work fine in the Infiniti i.e. Galaxy Tablet. I'm at a complete loss... This is so annoying!

Same issue with an LG G3 and plantronics Bluetooth headphones. Just tried a cache clear and it did not fix the problem. I have had this happen across multiple OS versions. I have a really long commute to work and hate wires but I guess I will have to start using the wired ones for the sake of being able to listen to my music without constantly having to pause and unpause my songs. Using Google play music btw.

Someone please help us fix this!

I have the same problem after automatic updating my Note 4 from the original Android 5.0.2 to Android 5.1.1. This problem happens to my Headphone Sony MDR-10RBT that was working properly before, now after 1 to 3 minutes of playin music the BT connection drops. My Bluetooth is working properly with the BT Keyboard with my car system BT for calls and audio, transfer files over BT, so the problem is selective......that is to say a huge BUG in the software. This Headphone is still working fine with my other Galaxy S5 with Android 5.0.1. I have tried every thing possible.... Soft Reset, Hard Reset, Cleaning Cache Partition, cleaning cache e data do BT app e BT test app.......... nothing solve the problem with the Sony Headphone. I have contacted Samsung and they told me to take my phone for the technical assistance?????? What for?! BT is functional. HUGE........ HUGE BUG. One other thing that stopped working in my Note 4 is the NFC???????? Shame on Samsung.... For me that is the end of it no more Samsung I have left Nokia for similar reasons, now head on to IPhone....

Not sure your ROM or model but I'm on a D850 with Blisspop and I get the same issue on BT using Poweramp. If I load the default player I got with CM, it works perfectly. Not sure what the exact flaw is but I'm leaning towards permissions, invalid file path, or another app is interfering and we're clueless or not noticing it. Maybe I'm way off? Who knows at this point. I do know before L it worked flawlessly on any app I used.

Attachment: Only app that won't drop, skip,fast-forwards, etc for me on BT.

i tried again this morning on a lark, and it work great. just a couple pops in my overdrive audiobook during my 30 min commute. when i got to work, i decided to listen to the book for a few minutes before going into the office. however, volume level that was fine for the interstate commute was too loud in the parked car. so, i turned off overdrive's boost feature and immediately got choppy sound. i turned it back on and notched the volume down using the control on the side of the phone. it was okay for a couple notches but when i got too low, the chopiness started again. so... with audiobooks in overdrive, louder is better for smooth bluetooth sound. not a solution exactly, but maybe a clue to someone who could find a solution? :) i have tried changing the volume before without getting this result, so it could be a fluke, could be this particular audiobook. alls i am saying is i found something that improved my experience this morning, maybe it can improve others as well and also get us closer to a true fix.

Hello folks

I have had s2, s3 note 2, and s4, and now s6

I also had
- htc one me
- honor 6

I never had any issues on s2, s3 and note 2. While listening to music and also attending calls on my phone while Bluetooth was connected on my Ford or even my Fiat car.

I even had no issues on s4 till some time...when an update happened. I don't recollect which update. But I had visited service center many times to prove that Bluetooth was spoilt. And music get cut off exactly after 10 to 20 seconds.
The music player keeps playing. No matter I play or pause.. Nothing can be heard from the phone or the car speakers.

Later if I turn off the Bluetooth of the phone n turn it back on no change. In fact the Bluetooth keeps showing as connected on phone...when I turn off the Bluetooth then turn it back on it wont connect to the car again, till I manually disconnect the phone from car Bluetooth settings or I reboot the car audio. Not normal turn on and off the car audio system.. Hard reboot. Means keep the on/off button pressed till the system shuts off black. Only then the phone will get connected and then again after 30 seconds or so. The music will stop. Even phone calls won't be heard from car audio. I will have to manually take the calls on speaker phone or headset of the phone.

This issue has been haunting me for past 3 years. Since s4. And now I got s6. It still haunts me.

My Lg gg pro worked awesome
My htc worked great
My honor 6 works great
I m not able to get the hang of the issue.

I have reset phone many times in front of the service center and then tried ... Everything worked good. Till maybe I started adding some apps.

With fresh phone it was fine.. But I m not able to extract which app is giving trouble or when does this issue start
As most of the time my aapps on phone are all the same list.

S6 does not have sd card. So the sdcard theory does not match.

I never use Google player I disable it

Even on s4 I remember buying Poweramp. And using it for a while.

What I remember is. On Samsung's music player it went off on 30 second and never came back on till a hard reboot of the car systems. And also turn on and off phone Bluetooth.

But when using Poweramp... I was able to get the music back on after just normal car audio shut down and reselection of source of audio to BT media couple of times. But yes still the phone calls was issue. That connection was not built back unless I hard reboot.

Now I m not sure how to correct this.

I m so frustrated. I love the songs on my Phone and SoundCloud.

If I don't use car Bluetooth for calls the cops. Catch and there is big pain in the a@@ for such issues. I need the Bluetooth working for calls.

Samsung' has to fix this.

My car audio system is not at all the issue. Nor other android phones. Nor its lollipop.

It's Samsung phones n this started some years back. It was all good. Even on Samsung phone. Someone has corrupted the Bluetooth stack of Samsung phone.

Thanks

So, back to update things... i have a couple of different bluetooth earphones and headsets, as well as speakers, etc... My favourite Bluetooth earphone, the MeeAudio X7 Plus, cuts out all the time on Bluetooth with my S5. My cheap bluedio earphones, work flawlessly. I have read on many different forums about the fixes listed above here, they worked for my vehicle, partially... I will explain later.

When I go for a walk with my X7's on, as soon as I leave the WIFI of my house, the bluetooth starts cutting in and out. I have read on many forums that Android has some sort of issue with wifi and bluetooth straining too many resources, at the same time. So when I leave my home wifi and it starts scanning that is when the issues start, but if I turn off wifi, it still happens. Doesn't happen with the Bluedio ones though.

As for my car, 2014 Honda Accord, for the longest time, when I went to phone, it would show the 3 most recent calls, from April! So, after doing the cache clear and the Cache partition in boot mode, that updates perfectly now... but when I talk on the phone via bluetooth through the car, it cuts in and out constantly, the people I am talking to, say it's like going through dead zones, where they can only hear my voice once in a while. I have been pushing Android and Samsung on all my iFriends for the past 2 years... not any more... now I am the one eating crow. I have my old iPhone 4s, still and if I use the same earphones, that cause problems with my S5, they work flawlessly with my iPhone 4s, so the common problem being the S5! I am glad to hear it's not just my phone, as, the first week I had the phone I had a few issues, that tech support through Rogers, blew off and had me factory reset my phone and said it should be fine. Now 2 years later, with my phone warranty gone... I have no recourse!

I've read every forum, emailed Samsung and tried everything I read about. One simple thing that was never mentioned in everything I read and worked for me immediately,,,,,,,,, reset to factory default. Hope it works for you.

SOLUTION FOR GALAXY S6
I found this thread due to the same problem all of you have been facing. I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 and after what appears to have been an update I did prior caused it to have this problem.

Well, I did an update that was released earlier this week and it fixed the problem completely! I didn't have to do anything differently, it just worked. Hope this works for you, not sure if it works for other phones or not.

Like most of you, I've had the same issue. I've noticed however that when ever I have Torque app active, the Bluetooth playback issues are not causing a problem. At all. Turn off Torque and the problem comes back. I've gotten in the habit now of just leaving torque on all the time.

Ive used this as a solution from the S2, S3, Note 2, Note 4 and now the S6. It works everytime...

What is the Torque app? (I don't have a Damsung device anymore).

What is the Torque app? (I don't have a Damsung device anymore).
It's an app that links via a Bluetooth ODB2 adapter to your cars ECU and then you can use your phone for displaying output from the car such as custom gauges and logging.

There must be something in their Bluetooth stack within their app that fixes the problem. Note that I had 2 HTC phones as well with the same problem and torque fixed these as well.

I seem to notice the cutting out when I'm at the gym or on the freeway. I'm parked in a parking lot at the moment and I am not having issues even with screen off and charger unplugged.

My thought is maybe its a Bluetooth handshaking issue with other devices coming and going in close proximity. Kinda like a Hello, do I know you? You don't know me, OK. And maybe these considerations are creating a burp or slowdown. But I can say I'm real close to buying a nano or some other dedicated player. I love my Samsung phones but I can't deal with the skipping.

Well, I have had this issues with several different Android phones. I have noticed. After I add a few Bluetooth devices, it gets worse. So I delete them and add them as I need them. I need my LB earbuds at work. So, I basically only keep one installed at a time. Seems to have been working for 5 days!

I resolved my problem by switching to a spare Galaxy Note II that has no SIM or other bluetooth devices added. Basically a factory reset device with nothing else installed. So at the very least we know the problem IS the phone. Like Codered1968 said, the problem could be having multiple devices paired. My theory was the phone was burping because it was handshaking with a million other devices at gym, but I think that's disproven, I haven't had issues with my recent test.

Presently I think that either

1) Factory reset cleared the problem, or
2) Having 1 BT device paired helps, or
3) Removing the SIM helped ( by possibly by eliminating some background task that uses cellular data )

If I narrow it down further I'll update!
