S6 still worth getting?

I am due for an upgrade and i can get the Samung S6 real cheap for a new phone. Now that it is 10 months old, and the S7 looms, is the S6 still a good enough phone to last me a few years without being behind the technology? I assume it is getting Andorid 6 on Verizon?

Thanks

Good question, because my wife's S6 is draining the battery within from full charge to 40% in 3 hours of use: and getting worse. My S6 is the worst Bluetooth of any cell I have owned... If they make improvements I'd say wait...

Yes, although it is ten months old it is still a great device. If you can get one "real cheap" go for it (and it is a Samsung S6 and not a "Samung". I have to ask because you said real cheap.)

The battery drain could be completely normal; context is everything. Is the phone just resting, is "3 hours of use" watching videos ? Playing games ? I'm guessing not or you wouldn't have a complaint. I think a rogue application chomping on the battery is the most likely culprit.

Your BT issues - you probably have a lemon. It happens. I had an S4 that couldn't connect properly to BT while connected to Wi-Fi, a lemon. Probably too late to get the unit exchanged, or if you have and your still getting issues, what are you trying to connect it to ? Could it be that device ?

Yes, off course Samsung s6 still worth in its price and offers amazing features to their users. The phone’s camera is just marvelous in capturing quality images of users in high definition. I like its performance as it never hangs down. In an all it’s a nice phone in its assigned pricing.

Yes it is totally a Samsung. Can get it through Best Buy. Also can get the Note 5, but that one may be more dated then the S6

No, it's not worth getting, unless you want a phone with an artificially limited lifespan, a weak and overheating battery, poor wifi, a camera that often forgets to focus, no HDR, no waterproofing, no SD expansion slot, and which, for all the numbers and benchmarks, doesn't really feel any faster than a Note 2.

Oh, and the mic is so poor that getting my language tutor to record her native voice for some words..? Well now I understand why people don't understand me in phone calls! My wife's ancient Tab 10 has a vastly superior microphone.

Frankly the S6 is one of the worst phones I've ever had, taking into consideration how it's the very latest and greatest. Previous Samsung models were way nicer to use than this POS.

Make sure it's a real Samsung S6 you're actually getting, especially if buying real cheap online from Ebay or Alibaba. There are a lot of fake ones around, sometimes misspelled, "Samung", Samseng", etc. usually really cheap, and they're rather crappy and disappointing.

I don't think the battery is anywhere as bad as some people think. I can go the whole with medium to heavy use no problem. Best phone I've ever had.

I don't *think* the battery is useless, I know it is. And this is with a nearly-new phone; I hate to think what it will be like next year...

If you are new to this forum you will find there are certain people who will slate the S6 at every opportunity.
Take heed of the others for their views not ones with a seeming determination to put people off the S6.
I have had every version of the Galaxy S series since its inception and would say that they were all good for their time (except PERHAPS the S5)

I have tried 4 headsets, the best is an over the head trucking headset, a BT350. It is just to big and bulky for everyday use. I did spell out all 4 in a previous post somewhere, but for no the VXI headsets seem to be the best, (BT350 & Reveal). No matter where I have my handset on my body, with a twist of my head the sound becomes very distorted.
With my S3 I could walk 30 feet away with no problem... With the S6 I need to keep it in few feet and watch carefully it orientation to my headset.

The S6 should be getting Android 6.0 either this month or in March. The S7 is supposedly coming out in March. The rumor is that the S7 will have a microSD slot which the S6 doesn't. Do you need external storage like I do?

"(except PERHAPS the S5)"

The S5 is a better phone than the S6! I'm seriously on the prowl locally for a good 2nd hand S5.

At this point I would say no as the S7 is coming out soon.

I liked my S6 when I first got it but unfortunately it seems that every major update they had made it worse and worse.

Time to put your money where your big mouth is. I have a S5 that I will swap for your S6 provided you clean your sweaty fingerprints off it before swapping it. Also remove all the porn sites you frequent.
I am serious about the swap. Let's work out the mechanics.

I'm afraid the mechanics are insurmountable, as I'd have to pay huge import tax on your phone here in Malaysia. In contrast I can get a vastly cheaper local one.

If not for that I would have already bought a CAT S60 :)

I see Samsung are admitting the S6 is a pile of stinky poo and are reversing the lack of SD card and water.... "resistance".

Yes, Samsung s6 is worth its price. In this price range, you'll not find any phone better than s6. It has 16 MP primary camera f/1.9, 28mm, OIS, autofocus with LED flash & secondary camera of 5 MP, f/1.9, 22mm.
