Geez, :)

1) HTC Sense UI..it's hardwired into the code on EVO's ROM..You can't fuse with that (you could, but not recommended, cuz it has unique code) I don't know anyone that can code to HTC new Sense UI yet.

So, are you saying that the update to Froyo (and any future updates)would have to be an Evo-specific update?

thats the problem with android in general right now. they are all phone specific updates and thats what froyo is suppose to change

If Sense is the issue, it will get solved. No way HTC wouldn't work with Google to bring an end to this madness. HTC has said that Sense isn't the problem so either that's not accurate or there's a requirement by the carrier that had to be addressed.

Either way, Google will get to the bottom of this and soon. No way they're going to let this be something WPS7 or iPhone OS can market against.

I don't know if this adds anything to the Sense conversation but I think I remember somewhere reading that as Android moved forward, the OS would be set up so that features would be able to be added ala carte almost. Android 2.X - check. Sense? you can download and add on, etc. I could be off on this and can't remember where i read the article

No wonder the poopoo. I hope this can put some things to rest.

2) Everything else about EVO is hardwired..meaning, camera x2, GPU, CPU, Radio 3g/4g, GPS, GPM, is all incorporated into Snapdragon processor, and interconnected. This is what makes the phone so efficient. The same reason Samsung Galaxy S needed to go AMOLED w/smaller screen because of hummingbirds inefficiencies.

3)4G is not regulated at this time and will have unlimited download bandwidth. Once again 4G is part of the Unlimited Plan. HotSpot option is going to be 20 bucks because of unlimited downloads x8. I have seen all 8 devices download at a min of 6mbs through a EVO. (Special tweak from the blue man group)

4)The kick stand works perfectly, what else could you ask for.

There were several articles about this subject. Here's one:

Exclusive: Android Froyo to take a serious shot at stemming platform fragmentation -- Engadget

Rofl, not hardly..I am saying 2.2 Eclair is 4G specific. I can say my team was asked by Sprint/Google/HTC to put the final touches on 4G radio/software to be delivered on time for the show tonight. I can say that every test mule we got back in April was delivered with a 2.2 Eclair build installed. I know that Fryo will be available for all android phones when Google seems fit. I just know Nexus one will be first and EVO is scheduled for Froyo 6 weeks after launch. There is nothing specific about EVO other than it will have 4G and the bennies that come with it. I know the bennies have already been discussed in this thread.

I second this quesiton...

No it wont cost extra for the voice/data plan. It will just identify it as being an EVO phone to Sprint's system.

The only extra you will pay, will be for the hot spot data service.

In all honesty, I wil bet "There's an app for that" , sorry couldnt resist the "other" phone quote!!

:D

If you root your phone there is already an app for that. LOL

ooops, my bad! But it still goes to show that nothing is ever set in stone, if the rumors are true that sprint is nixing the phone.
I have not seen an official release yet saying it. But I hopped on a lame Sprint online chat when I heard it was 'official' and the rep confirmed it. However, that rep also said the Evo would be 'available' in May.

So, take it all as you will.

I read that too....so is this long list consisting of people who added their email for Info updates to Sprint's site? Or possible contest entries?

Just wondering where the list would come from?

It's the list of people who entered their email on Sprint's site in order to be notified of Evo release news.

I think that sort of thing helps them gauge interest and estimate how many to order and stock. Not everyone who signed up will buy one on launch day but it lets them know if 10 people are interested or 10 thousand.

Isnt there a "legitimate" way to do it as well, ( at least via USB)

There is nothing illegitimate about installing things on your own phone. This is not Apple and you don't need to break the TOS in order to "jailbreak" anything. You just need to install something as a superuser to do it and that option is not enabled by default for security and stability reasons. Nobody in their right mind operates as root by default ;)
