Root Rooting Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900V) - Legit Method?

Hi everyone, new to the forum!

I've read from a lot of sites that it is practically impossible to root the Verizon S5 because of how they've locked the bootloader, but I've only read that apply for the OE1 OG5 and OK3 build versions (I'm running BOK3). Earlier today I've stumbled on an article after weeks of research with a potential working method for the aforementioned ROM versions, not really for mine. Is this a safe method? Or will I easily butcher my phone internally?

If this method does not work, is there any other methods I could try? I've tried Kingo Root, towelroot, oneclickroot, even through Odin, all with no success. Thanks so much for your time!

The steps are clustered and I'm finding myself jumping all over the post. He put "Preparing your phone for root" all the way at the bottom after the steps to root. I'm fairly new to this so needless to say I'm just a bit confused.
 
ironass you are a godsend, thank you so much! I have no idea how I could've missed this. I'll attempt it at some point next week and share my results! :D
 
Also one more thing, Verizon sent an OTA update and I feel like it's only a matter of time until they force it on me and I lose any progress I'd make with rooting the device, any way to disable these or block them?

Once you are rooted, you will no longer receive updates from Verizon if you disable the updater app.

There are currently 42 different models of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and over 4,000 different stock Samsung firmware versions, worldwide, covering 7 different Android platforms, Android 4.4.2, Android 4.4.4, Android 5.0, Android 5.0.1, Android 5.0.2, Android 5.1.1 and Android 6.0.1. Not all issues will affect all models or firmware releases and your answers to the following questions will help in the forum's answers to your specific query.

#1. Could you post your Model number and Android version...

To locate these, go to...

Settings > More > About device > Model number and Android version

This will give you the model of Samsung Galaxy S5 that you have and which Android version you are on.

(TIP If you are a poster it is a good idea to mention your model number and firmware version in case this has a bearing on your problem.
 
So through Safestrap before flashing any custom ROMs you have to wipe the system, cache, and data that's on the phone?
Meh.
 
UPDATE: This root method works! As long as the directions are followed exactly there should be no issue with rooting with other users. I stopped right before the step requiring flashing of the deodexed stock rom.

Now I just need to figure out where to go next. I was looking into Cyanogenmod but I'm not entirely sure if it's deodexed or not, since those seem to be the only kinds of ROMs that will work with my particular build. My goal is to pretty much get rid of much of the verizon bloatware, save battery, increase performance, etc. but an entire new UI would be a plus, though not entirely necessary. Any of you guys know of any ROMs that could help out with this, or if Cyanogenmod is deodexed / safe for my particular build?
