How to remove software update notication

eznoh

Newbie
A software update has been pushed on my S5 running 5.1.1. I do not wish to update, is there a way to get rid of the notification? Is there a way to get rid of the update file(s)?

Without root you cannot disable the update notification, the AT&T variant of the S5 with stock 5+ cannot be rooted.

The update is probably the current Android security roll up that addresses a few exploits, why so against taking the update?

The reason I don't want to update ... supposedly Google removed the ability for an app to toggle mobile data in Android 5. However I found one SMS app that is able to do it for MMS, I'm afraid this update will break that app ...

In post #1 you state that you are already on Android 5.1.1. This latest update is merely a security update. As you are on AT&T and unrooted, it will eventually be installed on your phone. AT&T does not allow you a choice.

"You will be assimilated... resistance is futile!" (The Borg)
