Help Random restarting

Mephisto613

Lurker
Not even 2 weeks after I got my S7 Edge, it has started randomly rebooting. The only reason I know it is because I pull my phone out of my pocket and put my finger on the fingerprint reader but get a message that says after restarting I must enter my pin. Is anyone else having this issue? I'm kind of wishing I never would have left Motorola.

I've had mine reboot twice, but both have happened just after I've turned the phone on. Sounds crazy but are you sure the power button is not being pressed in your pocket?

Mine rebooted twice yesterday. The first one it was just sitting on the table and noticed because of the Samsung animation. The second one, it got stuck with an app and reseted itself.

I have deleted the last two apps I installed the same day, before it happened, and so far it has not happened again.

Out of curiosity, what were the apps?

The app I was using when the phone freeze was the native Camera.

The two apps I uninstalled for precaution were "Price search Radarprice" and "YouCam Makeup" (please don't judge me on the last one, it was just for fun! haha)

It could be anything to be honest, an update from an existing app for example, but I tried that since both apps were not essential for my day to day use of the phone, so I figured it was a good starting point to look for a reason for the reboot.

It would be possible that the power button was long pressed in my pocket, bringing up the button on screen for restart. But I wouldn't call it probable. I carry it in my shirt pocket which is quite loose. And I have the Otterbox Symmetry case on it. The button covers are pretty stiff.

I had this problem from day 2 with mine. I took it back to Best Buy and the Samsung Rep hadn't seen or had anything about it. He thought it was a loose battery or bad connection, but somebody in my thread on here didn't think it sounded like that.

Anyway, no help to you, but I just got my replacement phone on Saturday. No restarts . . . . yet.

I have problems with mine restarting also. It only happens when I'm using the Iheart radio app. I can deal with that. Happens about every 1/2 - 1 hr.

I've narrowed mine down. It only now reboots when I'm on Facebook and it's when I go onto the sun paper (stories). Everytime I go into the sun paper it reboots. It's like the phone does not allow access to certain sites/apps so it restarts device.

heh nothing to do with the content of whatever you are reading, its probably graphical content causing the phone to crap itself and crash, then restart. Or could be a fault with the phone. Mine doesn't do that when i read the sun.

It Deffo not the content I'm viewing. Is this the app you read it on those?

Mine isn't restarting at random as such, but certain webpages seem to crash it out. But only via the built in browser or Chrome or the Facebook internal viewer. If I use Firefox for the same webpage it doesn't crash...but I then go back in via Chrome and within 5 seconds the screen goes black and it reboots. Likely to be something within the webpage, an advert or built in video, disagreeing with the S7 and most browsers. Hopefully Firefox keep handling webpages as they do as that's now my default browser.
