I would first do a Long Press on the notification itself, that should take you to a place to disable the notifications.

Settings/WiFi/ 3 dot menu / Advanced / Notifications and also Smart Switch is on this page.

I have it turned OFF, it has negative effects for most of us, I highly suggest you just disable Smart Switch.

Here's what a I see when I got o Wifi settings. I don't have a notifications section there. I can't find the option to disable it in the main Notifications settings.

and what happens when you select the item "smart Network switch" ??

seems to me, that is what you want. turn it OFF....
it has no real value, and it causes a LOT of trouble for a LOT of folks....

it is trying to switch between DATA and WiFi, and that, to me, is just asking for trouble.

I am smart enough to turn DATA on, if it is needed, and I always turn DATA off when I get home....

I understand, but I have plenty of data, and I'm not worried about using a lot of it. I assume the notification is to let the user know they've switched to using data, but to me it's just clutter

Go to settings>sound and notifications and maybe there is an option to manage notifications for all your apps. It'll give you the option to disable notifications for the app and other options.

I don't have that menu. I have Sounds and vibration and a separate Notifications menu. I've searched around both and haven't found Smart Network Switch notifications there.

Long-pressing the Smart Network Switch notification does nothing.

What I am trying to tell you is, Turn OFF Smart Switch....
and all of your problems will go away.

Haha, thanks for your concern, but I get too frustrated when I go to the bathroom at work and wifi is just enough in range to stay connected, but not enough to allow me to download/upload, and I don't want to turn wifi off manually because I might forget to turn it back on for a while.

I use MacroDroid to turn WiFi ON/OFF according to whether the screen is awake or not.

Screen unlocks, WiFi turns on.... as long as I am surfing stuff, all is well.
I keep the Timeout set at 10 minutes, so that it don't lock on me too quickly.

then when I press the Power Button, the screen locks, and WiFi goes OFF.

MD is free for 5 macros, more than enough for your purpose.

* MacroDroid - Device Automation - Android Apps on Google Play

see the two screen shots for how to use it.

Hmm, that seems nifty. So, you turn wifi off when the signal is bad and then next time you unlock it, wifi is on again. That could work. Thanks.

Ummm, not if it is Bad.....
It is just turned OFF when the screen is locked.
Otherwise WiFi stay on....

You still have not mentioned if you have turned OFF SmartSwitch... Highly suggest that you do...
that along with this little macro can make life a lot easier.

What if you want to use the internet when the wifi signal is bad?

I haven't turned it off yet because the only downside I know of is using more data, and I'm ok with that.

If WiFi don't work, I just turn on DATA.....

for me, I almost never use DATA because just about everywhere I go, there is WiFi....
if away from WiFi, and IF there is a need, I manually turn on DATA.

There are 3 of us in our data plan, and we use less than 1 gB/month.... I just reduced my data plan from 6 gB/month down to 2 gB/month simply because I was wasting money... I am the only one who uses DATA for the most part, and that usually is only when I go on summer motorcycle tours for 2 to 3 weeks at at time...

WiFi is rarely "bad", it is either there and available, or it is isn't... there isn't any in between....
the exception being if you are sharing a limited Bandwidth WiFi...

ie, motels are the worst, and that is why I use a lot of DATA when on the road, motels just simply don't subscribe to enough bandwidth to let everyone have access during peak periods: 5-12 PM

If you observe my signature, I have a Verizon 4g MiFi "WiFi" router... I boot it up, and leave it on until I check out of the motels.
there is NO charge for it being ON, the only charge is for DATA that is used by my laptop.

but, I digress.... there just isn't any good reason to leave Smart Switch on. It causes more problems than it solves.
