Time to buy new battery?

vlc

Is there an app that measures the condition of the battery ( the Wh delivered per charge for example) to determine when it is probably time to consider buying a new battery?

Assuming your battery is removable (guessing it is since you're asking about replacing it), take it out and see if it is swollen. If it is, even slightly, replace it. Swelling is a sure sign of a lithium-ion battery at the end of its life cycle.

Can't you basically answer the question by seeing how long it takes totally discharge? Is it still long enough not to be a problem? If the battery is removable ... is it still not at all bloated?

I have the "batterylife" app from "curvefish" and it can show battery health, temp and voltage etc.

My 4 year old tablet battery shows "good" and as far as I can tell it still works as well as when I bought it.

no and yes. Just asking myself if it is long enough doesn't tell me if it would be much better with a new battery. The battery bloat would definitely tell me it has reached end of life though.

Great suggestions all round (including the point about the battery being swollen or bloated) thanks very much. :)
