Can I start my car from mobile with OBD II

iOsamaH28

Hi are there any way to start a car via mobile phone using OBD II ?

My car is Outlander GT 2016 also known as ASX GT

Thanks for helping :)

IIRC, the answer is no, simply because when I plug in my OBDII reader it does not even power up until the key is turned on.

OBDII is strictly a protocol for reading data from the vehicle ECU, nothing more.
The only way to do what you want is with an OEM or aftermarket remote start system that has a dedicated app that works with it.

It can, but probably not what you are expecting. As previously stated, OBD II is a protocol that has bidirectional controls. New vehicles have a CAN(Controller Area Network) Bus. The activity on the CAN bus is from several different computers all communicating on the network.

A remote start unit that I installed on a 2008 Taurus for example, used the original remote. The remote start unit spliced into the data wires on the OBDII plug. It monitored the activity on the CAN bus and if it saw 3 lock commands within two seconds, it would send out a "Start Command" on the CAN bus. The Body Control module simply processes the "Start Command" It has no idea if the start command happened from turning the key, hitting the start button, or in this case the remote start unit sending it out on the CAN bus.

Here is a link to that type of system : https://fortin.ca/en/products/evo-series/

Enter your vehicle and see what is available
