Whatever happened to Android Wear 2.0?

Did it fizzle out or something? Was it buggy? I know I can flash it to my Huawei watch, now that the 1-year warranty is out. But now I'm hesitant to do so because I haven't heard a thing about the update!

Does anyone here know what's going on?

I believe @codesplice flashed it and it was buggy. I haven't heard much since then.

So.... Despite Christmas coming up, would you say now is the wrong time to buy an android wear device (which might or might not be compatible with the final upgrade)?

Well, I have the Huawei Watch and absolutely LOVE it. Seems to me that any recent model of Android smartwatch should be able to upgrade to Wear 2.0 when it's released. The Huatch is notable because it's one of very few watches that can flash the developer previews right now. But I think I'll wait until all the bugs are worked out... I rely on it way too much :)

I read the moto 360 2nd gen will get the update but the first gen will miss out. Which makes total sense since the first gen had a garbage SoC.

I have the Huawei watch, great watch! But Android wear is the heart of the watch and it keeps having little heart attacks. Connection dropped, unpair-pair. I wish Android Wear would give us some kind of patch to fix these problems while we are waiting on 2.0!

My dimming bug is still around. I can't explain it because it's so intermittent. But every once in awhile, I'll get a notification and the watch face will dim below ambient level. Like brightness setting 0.5! It could be Gmail, a text... anything could trigger it anytime. I've become very adept at getting to Settings --> Adjust Brightness from rote memory (I certainly can't see what I'm doing unless the room is pitch dark) and setting it back to 5. Bizarre!

One thing I hope for in 2.0 is the ability to disable ALL notifications and then add the ones you want, as opposed to having all apps send notifications that can and going in and blacklisting each one... one at a time, or even if on the screen, you could multiselect (toggle) all or whatever ones and then apply. Tedious... my old Gear 2 Neo allowed this, on the Gear app!

other than that, loving my Huawatch! Haven't had it long, still learning all there is to know...

The "Big Rollout" that we were all waiting for turned out to be just one more disappointment..... many of us actually thought we were going to SEE and USE that new version on our watches! Fortunately, the "Final Preview" is (I think) very close to what will eventually be let out of the cage, and turned out to be relatively easy to install for someone new to all of this like me. I am SOOO glad I quit waiting and updated when that Final was released. I have "Play Store" now, as well as access to thousands (ok, I haven't actually counted, but.....) of awesome watch faces. If and when the "Official" update is ever released, I'll put my Huawei back together again (original software) and do the update. But in the meantime, I am really enjoying 2.0. BTW - I am using it with an IPhone 6 --- a VAST improvement in the way that this phone plays with Android watches.
