Where have you used Android Pay?

I was at Panera and got an alert that I could pay with Android Pay which was pretty cool, but I hardly ever use it because I never know places that have it.

Do you use Android Pay regularly and if so, where?

More and more places are allowing it now that they had to get the fancy new chip terminals. I use it at my local grocery store, my local convenience stores, Subway, McDonalds (on the rare case I go), ToysRUs, Petco has it but I hardly ever go there. Panera was one of the first places to allow it. Walgreens is back to using it, they had stopped in hopes of getting Current C or whatever that was.

Each terminal is different and the clerks don't always know it works and are amazed when it does. If you see the little wifi looking thingy it should work, or if the display says 'tap' on it. My grocery store had no idea and when I tried it (it said 'tap' so I did) everyone just looked at me funny (I get that a lot anyway but this time it was for a reason). Pretty cool you got a notification though, I'd read that was coming but didn't know it was here.

And, by the way, what's up with the new 'avatars' that relate to the question? I don't like change. :p

Yeah, no. Make it stop. I don't want to see ads as avatars. It took me years to memorize everyone's avatar. This just isn't going to work for me. Really. Make it stop.

They aren't ads. They are the app icons for the app or game being discussed. It's part of a new awesome app called "Channels" that is in super secret private beta right now. Basically there is a "channel" for discussion for each of your apps, kind of like automatically created forums.

Well the idea is that the app icon gives much more context and information than the avatar. In the grand scheme of things, and with a larger community, the topic of discussion should take priority over who started the topic of discussion. Once you click through all that information is there.

But we are always happy to hear feedback. Will take this into consideration!

Btw it would be better to discuss this in the channels channel ;) but I guess right now you need the app for that!

I guess I'll have to change my avatar to something that demands clicks.

Without seeing this new fangled thing in action I'll reserve my disdain due to your explanation (maybe).

By the way, we don't need no stinkin' new app [emoji23]

If you'd like to give it a try in our super private beta, pm @Phases and he will get you set up and give you the link. A little reward for being so quick to respond!

I use it everywhere that I can, including Panera Bread. So, in my small ass town, that's like 4 places.

I live in the UK and about 90% of shops accept it here so i use it every day. Groceries, Corner shops, take away food, restaurants, supermarkets, newsagents, nearly all chain shops.

And me. We've had those "fancy new chip terminals" for years so using contactless cards or phones is commonplace. Though I work in a supermarket at the moment as a supervisor and it could be that I'm the only person I've seen using Android Pay. A fair few people have used Apple Pay (and boy, do they like to let you know they've used it ..... :-( ) though.

Can't use it due to being rooted. ...

Now here's the thing. My S7 is rooted (confirmed by several root-requiring apps working) and Pokemon Go complains that I'm rooted - but Android Pay works .... go figure!

Not wedded to it though as I'm more likely to have my wallet with me than the phone.

I enjoyed Android Pay on my Moto X Pure... but now that I have a Note 7, I use Samsung Pay. Works SO much better and in so many more places! :)

My Note 4 is rooted and I just tried to set up Android Pay, it won't let me.
Says it can't verify that my software is "compatible".

Now, I am back to stock unrooted.

Rite Aid (worked very well surprising the RiteAid cashier)
McDonald's
Dunkin Donuts

Really Rite Aid? I thought they were part of the CurrenC consortium.

I use it whenever I can too, Walgreens, Duane Reade, Whole Foods, Associated (my local market), Macy's, Bloomingdale's.

Don't know but they aren't on the official AP list on the AP website. Maybe a carryover from Google Wallet? I have no idea.
