to root your phone need some root apps and backup apps
Most populer name is kingroot
kingroot(latest version):http://www.appsandroidapk.com/tools/kingroot/ Or
http://www.kingroot.net/wap/download
you should always backup before root for avoiding data loss.
asus backup(better for your device):https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asus.backuprestore&hl=en
easy backup:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mdroidapps.easybackup&hl=en
super backup:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idea.backup.smscontacts&hl=en
CAUTION: Before attempting to use Kingroot on an A5, might want to have a look at this thread, from the A5 ATR forum.

I rooted my galaxy A5 with king root. i tried to factory reset it but when it gets to checking for updates it dosnt go any further! its been 6 hours and it hasnt moved on! can somone please help me?
OP ended up having to re-flash the phone's firmware using Odin.
Also as the Android version here is Marshmallow 6.0.1, I'm pretty sure Kingroot or any other "free" one-click exploit rooting tools are NOT going to work.
you want to say odin works better for marsmallow except kingroot.
