Help Can't Load 'Samsung Notes' From Note 7 Smart Switch Backup

Traded in my Note 7 and Picked up my S7 Edge last night.

I've encountered an issue using Smart Switch. When I went to load the backup that took for the Note 7 into the S7 Edge, I was unable to select 'Samsung Notes'. It was greyed out.

How can I load 'Samsung Notes' from the Note 7 backup ?
 
You can't just yet. It's a different app. Samsung is yet to release the updated version for the S7 Edge. Just keep the notes backup for now and wait for the updare.
 
I know this doesn't help, but personally i wouldn't use a Samsung app for note taking, i use Evernote and/or Google Keep, they are better apps, then it's a seamless exercise syncing or restoring back data to other devices.

Yes probably going to use Google Keep as I don't want to run into this issue again.

I too, avoid proprietary apps for keeping important data.... you have no control over how long that data will be available, or even IF it will be available to you elsewhere.

I have been using Evernote for over a decade, and if you only have it on 2 devices, it is totally FREE !!! I have it registered to my Desktop at home, and to my Note 4 phone.

Here on my Linux laptop, I just use a Bookmark and log into the Web Version, all for free.... I have access to what is important in my life regardless of where I am, or what kind of device I am looking at.... borrowed or mine....

Evernote will export to your Desktop so you have a local Hard Copy if you want. I did that a couple of times when I was moving across a lot of states and disorganized beyond belief.. a piece of paper in your hands, beats the cloud if you don't have access to the cloud.

Definitely will check this out as well.
 
Personally I prefer OneNote over Evernote, but mainly its because I handle most of my stuff on a PC. OneNote's PC program is waaay better than Evernote on a PC. However, if you handle stuff more on a tablet/phone, Evernote is a better choice since the app is waaay better than OneNote's app.

I've been with Evernote for well over 10 years, more like 20, or ever since they showed up on the market.

I have never tried OneNote so can't argue the merits of it at all.

I do use Evernote's cellphone App every day, in fact many times a day.... and I have to be very careful to keep records accurate and Evernote has not once fouled things up.

I have though, learned that you do NOT want to have Evernote open on two devices at the same time...... you end up with what Evernote calls "Conflicting Pages" and resolving that is a Friggin mess.... I once just tried to delete the "conflicting page" and everything disappeared.... gulp!

that was when I changed my methods of editing.... never, ever, open it on two devices at the same time.
( I am pretty sure this rule will be identical for all Note products that sync up thru the cloud )

for one of my clients, I keep 3 copies of their stuff in Evernote, labeled Customer, Customer1, Customer2.
1 and 2 are backups of the original stuff.... from time to time, I will copy/paste from the original to the backups....

when the S*** stuff hits the fan, you do not want to have to try and explain why you "lost it all".
 
biggest issue I've encountered with evernote is they recently changed their terms so you get a limited amount of devices you can use with the same account... unless you pay them. no thanks.
