I travel a bit myself, usually to the UK at least once or sometimes twice a year. And this year I've been to Inner Mongolia twice, and recently been down to Guangdong Province, Shenzhen and Zhuhai to see friends. And we did quite a bit of motoring around to see some interesting places I've never been before while I was there. Previously I've also been to the US three times, Canada twice, and Mexico once. Also been France, Spain, Germany, Holland, Austria, Italy, Singapore, Malaysia, Russia and Mongolia.

Has anyone actually come close, or has, managed to completely fill a passport with entry/exit stamps and visas. I have. :thumbsupdroid:

BTW I could probably write a lengthy chapter and verse about United States travel visa applications, those can be horribly convoluted.

..and likely to get worse if a certain person is in power.

Must admit I'm a stay at home type, and not very well travelled at all. But if anyone wants an appraisal of my small corner of the universe, then I'm happy to give it.

Oh, that's just you, Mike. We had a meeting and put you on the "let's *^&$^#! with this guy" list. ;)

You know, I am reconsidering my initial opinion and think maybe a forum could be warranted.

For example, threads for the best carrier for short term phone use (HEY ... what do you know? and ANDROID subject! :p )
Or, the things you need to know (like visa applications) for certain countries.
Local customs, like don't pet the Hawaiian chickens.
Who's got the best clothing-option beaches (without photos, unless you agree to pay for the subsequent therapy)
Etc.

As a frequent traveler, who hasn't quite filled my passport before renewing it, Mike :p I could share my ugly American experiences.

I'm in. The Netherlands is my home base, but I've touched a few other European countries ;) Seen most of Scandinavia, including Iceland. And visited about 18 states in three three-week car trips in the United States.
Now planning to rent an rv and drive from Vancouver to Juneau. Execution of that plan may be next year.

I was toting my pack along the long dusty Winnemucca road
When along came a semi with a high canvas covered load
If your goin' to Winnemucca, Mack with me you can ride
And so I climbed into the cab and then I settled down inside
He asked me if I'd seen a road with so much dust and sand
And I said, "Listen! I've traveled every road in this here land!"

INTERNATIONAL would be greatly appreciated. if i will be somewhere more than a few days and i have some familiarity with the locale language, i usually get a locale sim. info on locale temporary data and cell services, is something i am very interested in having.

eg i have been traveling to colombia. you can actually buy a sim with 1gig of data that is good for 15 days cheap. 3g works ok in major cities. it is far cheaper to guy a week sime with data included, than to buy a regular sim and pay by the amount of data used . cartegena, bogota and medellin

It seems like most of the Lounge sub forums are dead as it is. Personally I think most of them should be done away with and be released into the general lounge area. They get more eyes and responses there. I'm always annoyed when a thread is getting a good amount of traffic and posts, then a mod moves it to the specific sub forum and it dies immediately. Travel questions would probably thrive more in the general lounge.

Although the popular votes favor a Travel subforum, the traffic comment seems to be pretty accurate. Only about a dozen people cared enough either way to chime into the idea at all, so there's probably not much point in it, unfortunately. Sort of like the Electoral College telling you who you're voting for. :(

Thanks for playing along, though, I do appreciate the input/feedback/discussion.

I also really love the idea of an own travel subforum, because it's one of the things that I'm really passionate about. But unfortunately I believe that you are right about that the travel subforum would probably have a rather low activity :(
