What's the weirdest thing you ever ate?

Ok we're having a conversation here at work, and talking about exotic/weird things people have eaten. Someone mentioned goat's brain. I wouldn't eat brain because I have an aversion to anything with that kind of gelatinous/rubbery consistency, but I wondered what it tastes like.

Oh yuck, that's just gross and all wrong! I'm ridiculously picky when it comes to food so I really haven't tried stuff out of the general ordinary stuff. But no friggin' way on the brain thing. No.

I too am a "picky eater" or as George Carlin once said, that's just a euphemism for big pain in the @$$. ;)

I am not in anyway adventurous with my dining so I am sure the weirdest thing I have ever eaten would be on some peoples anytime list.

Menudo and cow's tongue.

I think. A little 'possum, which was greasy. Venison, bison, goat... Alligator, which kind of tastes like cat.

Is this true?

"The Chinese will eat everything with wings except a plane, and anything with four legs except a table"

That's Guangdong Province really.
Here's something that one might find in Inner Mongolia.

A Royals fan and a meat and potatoes fan. Definitely Midwestern. If I were to guess.

Well hang on now, Midwestern, guilty as charged, but I didn't realize things like alligator, rattlesnake, and possum were "weird or gross". My grandfather was a hunter so if it's just plain meat we're talking about I've tried most. But um no brain or tongue or beetle or cricket or stuff like that. UGH just ick. I also don't do well with some fruits and veggies out there, just say'n. Now I am not fond of alternate meats but it is just meat, and don't buy that malarkey about it all tastes like chicken, cause it don't. Most non mainstream game meat A. tastes gamey and B. usually has an interesting texture, be it chewy, tough, oily, gummy whatever. Anyway back to regularly scheduled posts.
;)

I will try anything once. Now I can't say that it's weird, but let's call it unconventional, Kangaroo.

Menudo and cow's tongue.

Yup, Tripe and (cow's) tongue were just normal food growing up, so i wouldn't even have considered them strange (mind you at the time I'd never seen an Avocado and Sushi just an urban legend)

I suppose Black Pudding and Haggis might have the same reaction overseas, as Possum and Alligator would have here in the United(?) Kingdom.

My wife says "Alligator"

Have just checked with My wife, and she says it's Kangaroo

I've been told that I should go vomit in the toilet because I like "Potted Meat" in the can...

when out on my motorcycle, I make sure that I have Potted Meat, Vienna Sausages, and Beanie Weiners and Saltine Crackers in my lunch kit. When you are hot, tired, and just need a rest, and the nearest eatery is 113.789 miles "that away", that little lunch kit can sure taste good.

I also make sure that I am carrying several bottles of Sport Drinks to restore my electrolytes.

I love Pig Feet boiled in Soy Sauce <3 (Although it tastes like fat and has little to no taste!!!)
Chicken Feet are nice as well :3
