Help TouchWiz and default apps crashing

Hello,

Hope all you guys are doing well. Today, I decided to root my Galaxy S5 (SM-G900W8) running on android 5.1.1. It turned out to be great until root process ended and the device booted up. After that, very important apps like TouchWiz, Download Manager, Media Storage and etc are crashing. I am really stuck. I tried upgrading to android 6 via Smart Switch, but the app cannot detect my phone even if I installed the drivers manually. I would like to be able to fix this issue.

I see some options : Factory data reset or upgrading to Android 6.0.1. Are these solutions safe to do right now ? What should I do ?

Did you root using an app or a PC? A factory reset might help. What shows in device manager when the device is connected?

I used Odin to root the phone.
A factory reset should fix the apps crashing. The PC not recognizing the device after root is odd though. Have you tried a different USB cable & or USB port. Updating the device to 6.0.1 shouldn't be an issue.

Did you clear the system cache partition? If not, boot back up into Recovery Mode and wipe the system cache to see if that makes any difference.
