What's the best way to pick a Christmas tree?

I go by how the empty space at the bottom compares to the peak limb on top. Usually about 12 inches.

For the first time my sweetie wants a small tree, 5 feet. I usually get a 7 and cut it down to 6.

Should I look for a smaller bottom to cut or a smaller top to put an ornament on? I've got lots of different ornaments to put on top.

Yes. It's critical this year. Sweetie hurt her foot and cannot climb ladders right now.

I've got 10 foot ceilings in my triple-decker apartment. Usually tend more towards a foot away from the ceiling with the stand. She's only 5.1.

Years ago I bought a high dollar Scotch pine tree. It was beautiful and very realistic looking. One year I pulled it out of my shed only to find that mice had made a home in it's box. Nothing quite like the Christmas scent of mouse piss. Needless to say, the tree went in the dump and we were back to buying real trees.

We bought a Balsam Hill tree. Prelit, remote control, and wow is it realistic looking! Expensive as all get-out, but it should last a lifetime and no vacuuming up needles ;)

our daughter has 7, yes, Seven Christmas trees set up in our home this year.....
there are nearly 2,000 Santa figurines scattered around our house.

I really need to upload the video to youtube

This is the problem with real trees.

Missed a pun there :)
But yes, this is one reason we don't store our artificial tree in the loft. Too many mouse scrabblings up there, and I'm afraid that one year they'll decide to gnaw their way in to the box and make a right mess.
I'd say we've got our money's worth out of the tree though. It's 20 years old and it still looks good. Kids have a great time assembling it.

SEVEN trees and 2,000 Santas???

Where the heck does your daughter live? An Amazon distribution center? Because if she lives in a single wide, she doesn't need a YouTube video... she needs her own reality TV show!

:p
