I don't know why this is even news any more, because they've been hacked so many times

But this paragraph has convinced me to once and for all, completely shut down my Yahoo email account

"Your email account is the central hub of your entire online existence - if they own that they can ask for password resets on other accounts you have online as well," explains Mr Cluley."

...Except that nothing is linked to my Yahoo account.

On the other hand, if anyone were to hack the Google databases, a huge chunk of us Android users would be thoroughly screwed.

Yep, let's hope that Google have their act together.
I previously used Yahoo email, but now it just transfers stuff to Gmail. Today I logged into Yahoo email for the first time in ages, and it told me my account details had been compromised. I changed the password immediately, then went hunting around for sites I may have linked to it.

I use Yahoo only because the birding group I follow still uses their message board. I know I have an old old email that was killed off when Yahoo did the big purge of addresses years ago so figure that one's not a worry. The one I use now has a unique password and just gets forwarded to Gmail. I do use it for stuff like craigslist and one time purchase sites, I should probably have a look. Stupid Yahoo. I'd kill it off totally if it weren't for the silly bird-nerds I follow.
