S7 Headphone Issue? Only Sound In One Ear.

I have the same problem, only the left earphone works no matter what earphones or program i use. But i like to watch Netflix when i take a shower sometime so my phone dose get wet. Anyone think this could be why it stop working ??

Hi All

Anyone help me please? I got my S7 a couple days ago now pre release and everything was fine, been using my Gear VR that came with it just fine and be using headphones just fine. Last night all of a sudden, the audio in my right ear has cut out. The left is fine and is currently the only side thats working. Its definitely not my headphones before you asked, i have tried multiple headphones that i know are good and in perfect working order and again , audio in just the left side.

I have tried to see in accessability if the hearing was somehow shifted to left only but its smack dab in the middle. Tried doing a factory reset and it persisted through it.

Is my phone ****ed within 2 days of getting it?

I tried to phone my phone carrier up today and they are unable to issue a swap over until tomorrow sinces its not released yet which is understandable-

Hi, did you manage to fix yours? I fixed mine by pulling the gold conductor inside the headphone jack slot (it looks like it bent with such force pushing the jack) with a curved pin.. turn your phone upside down and back casing LCD* facing you.. look inside the headphone jack slot with a flash light, right side in my case, you will notice the gold conductor not in place. Here i'll show you a diagram made by me. Sorry for the awful drawing.

Take a look at the awful drawing, you see the red line, that should be the place of the bent gold conductor. I inserted a sewing thread, shaped it like "U" and gently pull the gold conductor up, i used also a curved pin to help the string.. after that it slightly in position now, i took a paper clip and flatten the tip so it will not slip if i push the conductor in place. if you are satisfy with the placement of the conductor, you can now try to insert jack gently. Profit. Sorry for my bad english. Enjoy. :)

Edit: I meant LCD facing you and not the back.

Go to Accessibility, hearing, then check your options for hearing impaired... It's very simple.

Hello folks i had the same problem suddenly just b4 yesterday and I tried everything to fix it with no luck so i decided it was a hardware issue . I took a sewing needle and started playing with the clips inside the headphone jack with no luck either for 2 days and today I found an xray image of the s7 edge and got an idea since the right channel doesnt work the problem must be either the right ear clip or the right ear ground ( the second and third clips of the jack ) i took the needle and with only one magic gentle bend outwardly to the second clip from the left side as phone faces you everything came back to work i will attach the image and hope this helps you

I tried this, you were right! Completely fixed! Thank you so much.

Got mine repaired under warranty in the end although it was unecessarily difficult to place a warranty call. Recemmond tweeting Samsung support. Got the best response that way.

YES. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I took a torch from another phone, and using a fine needle I bent the corresponding pins ever so slightly into the port some more (they didn't really look out of place) but this has been bugging me for around a year and I rely too much on my phone for my job to go without it for a few weeks. IT NOW WORKS!

Good to know tinypurplefox. The fine needle post I mean. Was that like a sewing needle?
Yep, it was a sewing needle but one of the smallest ones in the pack. This allowed me to get behind the pin inside the port and gently pull it forward. One of the larger ones would make it difficult to see what you're doing :)

Hi can you please help me. My s7 Edge just stopped playing sound to my right earphone I can hear sound only to my left side. I tried following your instructions but I can't identify the side which is bent. They both look the same to me. And I cannot get the thread into the jack and onto the gold conductor correctly. Please try and help me.
I went to a Samsung store and they said that I had to have my whole screen removed as the jack and screen are both related together and said the estimate is 200 dollars. I bought my phone last month and it hasn't fell once. Please try and help anyone...

Amazing, thanks Seekoo!
I was going through forums, cleaned the socket, checked the accessibility settings and mono sound. Nothing helped until I found your xray picture - really, the pins on the left side (they give the sound to the right earphone) needed a lift. They did not appear bent or pushed any deeper than others, but it was enough to lift the second pin on the left side and the sound started coming through to the right side.
Loud and clear!

I've even registered on this forum, which is rare, but wanted toupwote this solution. Thanks again!

omg thank you SO much i was having a really bad day and i put my headphone jack in with too much force and the tip broke off in the socket.
after i got it out i found out that only the left ear was working, i was sooo distraught because i didn't have warranty anymore and it would cost a fortune to fix or replace
again tysm, not all heroes wear capes

Just signed up to thank this answer, It saved my life f**king S7 is expensive and I was afraid of the idea of fixing it and loosing the waterproofing in the process. This is exactly the fix for my specific problem. You see I actually messed my headphone jack by “cleaning” it from dust and crap with a toothpick. (It sounds stupid but it’s something I’ve done many times with other phones) and I thought I broke it, but now I know I just bended those clips. THANK YOU

I think this is the problem with my S7 Edge, as it's also a little hard to insert into the jack.

Do you have to open up the phone to get better access to this? I'm having problems seeing what is going inside the jack as it's small. Thanks for any help!

thanks a lot! that x ray picture changed the whole game, after 3 hours of needling I've bent it back and it works. Saved me from saying bye bye for my phone for over all summer because of RMA, yes in lithuania warranty periods are ridiculously long...

Thank you thank you thank you !! My headphone wasn't working for at least 4 months (only left side was working) when I looked inside the jack the clip was turned inside the jack, it was bent very badly.. I tried with a crochet needle (I know it is dangerous but I was out of options) to turn it straight and it worked !!!

Ps: sorry for my English it is not my native language

I have Samsung S7 Edge. Had same issue. Left ear very little to no sound. I tried 3 different headphones, and all had same issue.
I took plastic safe contact cleaner, and sprayed a little in headphone jack. Then took a cotton swap q-tip, and pulled most of the cotton off. Lastly I stuck it in the jack twisting it as I went. The cotton swab came out sort of filthy. I repeated procedure. Looked inside jack to make sure no cotton stuck inside. It didn't. Lastly, I tried my headphones again. IT WORKED!!!. The sound returned to normal. You can get contact cleaner at most hardware stores. I hope this works for you.
