my new ZTE Zmax Pro is having screen issues. the screen flickers when I open messages in kik. how do I fix this?

I wasn't quite sure what kik was so I looked it up in the Playstore. If this problem is specific to this app then that is where the problem is. From reading just a few of the reviews I found that a recent update, with major changes, has caused problems for many users.
