I use a messaging app that came with my S4 which works well. I would like to install this same app on my wife's phone and after going thru the wikinsta site which has hundreds and am unable to find it. My question is how do you find who wrote these apps, clicking on the app manager says nothing as to who wrote it. Any help would be really appreciated.

Most stock messaging apps are specific to a phone or brand. On the S4 it would be part of Touchwiz, or Samsungs flavor of android and it's core apps. The ones offered by OEMs are usually not available for other branded phones.
 
Thanks, I'm going to need a suggestion here. My S4 works find and the feature I cant get working on my wife's J3 is when receiving a message my will notify me every 3 minutes if I don't pick up a message, my wife's J3 wont using the messaging app that came with the phone. I have been through very setting I can find with no luck.

Can anyone suggest a simple MMS app that would have that feature.
 
I don't know of an MMS app, but Lightflow pro will do that. Let me dig up a link as I was helping another member with this a few days ago. I'm sure if there is an MMS app that does it someone will also chime in.

Did you check the settings within the Messaging app as well as those in the device Settings app? On my older Android version (4.4.2) there is a "Message alert repetition" setting within the Messaging app's settings.
 
Thank you srglassw, I did check and there are no settings for repetition unlike my S4 which repeats fine. I also downloaded LightFlow in the J3 and checked "Enabling repeating sound" and set to 5 secs and it refuses to repeat. I've probably been playing with for too long now.... It advertizes this version will repeat sounds....
