Stolen Phone - Unlock and turn on

My phone was stolen around 10 days ago. My carrier can't track it but I was able to with a Device Manager App and a Samsung rep. Unfortunately, according to the rep, the phone was off so they couldn't trace it after the lst loction I sae on the map. Is there any way to turn it on remotely. I eas able to call my voicemail.

Only higher techs in the company have low level activity access to locate a phone that is not on, but with a battery still in.

Unfortunately they cannot use it due to privacy act.

You're only best bet would be to try to keep tracking it, but with android device manager it shows a message on screen when you have tracked it so i doubt they will turn it on again.

Next time use an app like android lost or wheres my droid that provide invisible tracking.

You can't turn it on remotely: if it is turned-off how can it receive a signal to tell it to power on?

Voicemail is handled by your carrier's servers, not on the phone, so talking to that means nothing.

Sorry, if they leave it turned off there is nothing you can do. Of course it's also not much use to them if they cannot turn it on. If the device is old enough not to have Factory Reset Protection then they can just wipe any connection to your account and use the phone, but if it was bought in the last couple of years they should not have that option.

You should probably use device manager to at least lock the phone so they can't use it with your account and cancel the sim card while you're at it. A remote wipe is your best bet, so that the next time they power it on, it will erase and lock the phone. Of course for that to happen they have to have an active data connection and your account has to be there.

Assuming the thief does turn it on and you track it, what do you intend to do with that information? Confront them? Bad idea, and very dangerous. Don't do that.

The police will only provide you with a report to submit to your insurance company. They won't even bother investigating. Since it's only a monetary loss and no one was hurt or put in danger.

Yea I locked and erased it. I think if I could still utilize it through my carrier they haven't been able to use it. It's a Samsung 6 Edge Plus. Basically it was my computer. The weird thing is, with my new phone I'm using to track it another phone appears with a totally different IP number. And that one I tracked out of state but the phone doesn't belong to me so I guess I have to go to my carrier and ask them what it's doing on my tracker. Any explanations?

I meant to say that my Samsung is tracked along with my new phone plus this other phone. That didn't happen until I bought this new phone so I'm thinking it has to do with my carrier.

Did you previously share locations with any other contact? Google has moved that from G+ to maps now, so you might be seeing others there.

The only other thing, other than the obvious network glitch, would be if the thief took your sim card out of your Samsung 6 and tried it in a different device just to see if it would work and now that device is associated with your carrier account too.
