Bought s7 2nd hand

ZimKimba

Lurker
How can I find out if there is something installed in the Rom. Like keylogger or a virus of some sort. I am worried as I use CryptoCurrency and am concerned about security.

Check the Knox counter status, if it's showing "0x0", that means it's clean and hasn't been tampered with. That's part of what Knox was intended for, to ensure nothing sneaky like a keylogger has been installed in the system root. If the Knox counter is showing "0x1" or something else, don't touch it. Knox uses a hardware e-fuse, which if tripped by tampering can't be reset.

Factory reset the phone of course before using it.

Is there a way to check Knox without the app?

Thanks

Just go into settings, and look at about device, the Knox status should be there somewhere. Think that's where it is on a Samsung. There's a warranty void counter as well, that should also be showing "0x0", if the phone hasn't been rooted and modified.
