Rooting AT&T Note 5

I have am AT&T Samsung note 5 and am really wanting to root it. I used to work for a large regional carrier (C Spire) in customer service and tech support,  so,  I'm pretty technically inclined but have never rooted a phone before. Any suggestions? Definitely don't want to brick my phone or download malware! Also,  is there a way to root it without a pc? Thanks!

Rooting the N920A requires a PC. And a specific build number.
If you can post the last 3 of the build number and android version that would be helpful.

You would have to roll the device back to 5.1.1 PH4 or lower more than likely.
