Help S Pen Issues

Yes, but if the screen is only responding to the S Pen, there could be a problem with the digitizer under the screen. Of course, the phone is two years old: unless you have a service plan for it, that's probably going to cost more to repair than the Note 5 is worth. All I can say is that Samsung is offering TOP DOLLAR to trade the Note 5 in for the Note 8... and I can hardly wait to get mine.

I'm having a problem.

I have the Montblanc S-Pen for my Note 4. It works fine with the Note 8 but I have to remove the S-Pen from the body of the Note 8 (and feel the little "vib") in order for it to work. I don't remember having to have the S-Pen out of the body on the Note 4. Is there some way to turn this check off?

I want to use the Montblanc S-Pen most of the time but I want to keep the actual S-Pen in the Note so I have it.

TIA

That's a really good question, and probably one for Samsung tech support. Can the Note 8 perform S Pen functions with a second Pen, while the S Pen is stored in the phone? My first impression would be no, as removing the S Pen would activate its features. I'm not sure there's a way around that, but they would know.

I figured it out. You go into SETTINGS => ADVANCED FEATURES => S PEN and disable the "Power saver" option. It says something like "save battery power by not trying to detect your S Pen while it is in your phone."

It is on by default and when I switched it off, the MB stylus worked just fine. I'll play with it for a few weeks to see how it really impacts the battery and then decide if it is worth it.

So the next question would be, what features does the new S Pen (the NOTE 8 version) have that an older version might not support? I'll need to test that will the MB as well.
