Accessories [OFFICIAL] Accessories Thread

I checked back on the car chargers and they are back ordered. Still, hoping to get the one that I ordered. They were listed as available after all.

I haven't seen a shipping estimate anywhere, but I'll trust @WeeWilly

Until the week of the 18th is over and I still don't have it

:p
Here's a link: https://goo.gl/hV7AEh

And, just in case that link doesn't work:

Looks like the Alcantara case isn't good for drops. There also isn't any protection along the bottom. The whole bottom of the phone is exposed.
I'm sure it feels good and looks good but looks like it you do a minor drop your done.
True?

i have the alcantara case.

yes it's not designed for drop protection.

it feels good and is classy as heck. you dont take this to the beach or hiking.

correct it has ZERO protection on the bottom. it protects the corners.

its not for everyone. i love it and use it daily.

Cool, so if someone wants a cover that protects against a fall and isn't real bulky what would you all suggest?

there are a hundred million cases for the smammy. :) there are lot of videos out there that go over these. i think its a futile attempt to list them all.

i DO have the ammy military grade case and its beautiful!! kickstand and designed to protect. it does not support wireless charging on the sammy convertible pad but the choetech one will work just fine (i have both).

if you want to see plenty of cases, head over to flossy carter's channel on the tube he has plenty of case vids on the note 8 from many companies.

<-- these are the samsung brand but he has spigen and others on his channel..

I need a set of charging cords, plug-in adaptors, plug-in chargers.
Any highly-rated suggestions of brand (and web links appreciated)

Variety length to include ~4.5 feet as nice length (often the standard 3.3 ft are too short).
Both adaptive-fast-charge and regular speed (what is the key spec to tell difference??)

I broke down and bought the box set from Samsung at Best Buy that included a wiresless charger and a Car Charger and a 5100 MAH portable battery.

The car charger is way faster then my previous insignia unit as it supports adaptive fast charging meaning it won't over charge your phone but charges it quickly, the wireless charge is good too but the surprise for me was the 5100 Mah portable battery supports fast charging too. It cant ake your phone from zero to hero very quickly and with the short cable I find I can connect and fold them together and put them in my pocket you do need Micro USB to USB C adaptor for the short cable but one came with the phone.

SUCKS!

Bose just released the Quiet Comfort 35 II headphones with Google Assistant built in! I contacted Bose and asked about a trade-up promotion for us new QC35 owners. NOPE!

@WeeWilly I was just coming here to gripe that it's the week of the 18th. Friday. And casey no shippy yet. I only see 'order is delivered two business days from ship date'.

That's not very reassuring.
Yep, Chief, I'm about to give up. This afternoon I got an email saying my Samsung order had shipped, but it turned out to be the Adaptive Fast Charging Vehicle Charger, which the website had been showing as back ordered.

And my charger still says backordered. How'd yours get shipped before mine?

I have no idea, @kokiangel, because I ordered mine after you posted about it. I would have been much happier if they had shipped my Alcantara case. Last night I watched Flossy Carter review official Samsung Note 8 cases, and at 9:40 on the video he reviews the Alcantara case and said it was his favorite Samsung case.

I'm not sure what's going on with the Alcantara case. Yesterday the Samsung website said the case ships in "...3 to 5 business days". Today it says, "Ships in 7 to 10 business days."

Just a heads up on the Gear VR, apparently the previous Gear VR model will work, just needs an adapter like the two you usually have in the box, check this video out, might save you a few notes(haha)
I have the R323 VR model, not sure if it would work with that though.

A Good Glass Screen Protector For The Price - Before spending $45 for a glass screen protector for my N8, I decided to give the amFilm Tempered Glass Screen Protector a try. Installation was easy and bubble-free, and I have changed cases a couple of times and the protector edges haven't lifted. The protector does pick up a lot of fingerprints, but that seems to be a fairly common problem with glass screen protectors.

If you're going to be using the Galaxy Note 8 more than usual or spending a long day away from the outlet, a spare battery is paramount to keep your phone juiced up and topped off.

Here are a few of my favorite portable battery banks for the Galaxy Note 8:

Well it happened. My new note 8 fell out of my sweatshirt pocket this morning. I was folding laundry early morning, put the phone in my sweatshirt pocket and as I turned it went flying. It was all in slow motion as I watched it fly through the air onto my hard as a rock tile floor. I saw it hit on the corner of the phone and come to test on the floor.
I let it sit there a moment as I was afraid to pick it up. Finished folding and grabbed it. Well all I can say is thank God for the tech21 cover. Not a scratch. No issues at all. Glad I changed from the Alcantara to the Tech21 a couple days ago.
Tech21 imo is the way to go.

Oh, I am really displeased with the Alcantara case. It looked SO GOOD when it was new... but it's wearing horribly! Awful bare spots where my thumb and finger rest!

I just sent this picture to Samsung, asking for a refund:

AlcantaraCaseWear.jpg

You can immediately see where I've been holding this thing! I'm not going to settle for this - not for almost $40.

How's your Alcantara case holding up? Are we all sending ours back for the same issue?

EDIT:

On the subject of screen protectors, I ordered and installed a Griffin curved screen protector. It's .5mm instead of .3mm and doesn't follow the curve all the way to the far edges of the screen. I have YET to see a full curved protector that doesn't have reviews of micro-cracks and horrible wear on the edges. So this curves just over the edge a bit, where 99% of the action is. Problem is that it must not be a level bond, because the right side of my screen is unresponsive: I have to bang on things to get enough pressure for the phone to sense it. So back IT goes, too!

:(

Chief, your case may have been made from the hide of an Alcantara suffering from mange. I think we got our cases about the same time and mine is holding up well.

Huh. One would think that the Alcantara Farm Administration would have a better handle on this sort of thing... but with fair trade practices being what they are, regulators looking the other way from time to time wouldn't surprise me...

EDIT:

I got a response from Samsung:

After reviewing the screenshot, we see that it is a normal wear and tear of the accessory. However, Samsung provide 12 months of warranty for phones and accessories from the date of purchase. Physical, liquid and cosmetic damages are not covered under warranty.

So if your Alcantara case hasn't started showing wear spots yet, you can bet that it will - unless you are constantly changing your finger positioning on it. Not much of an incentive to buy more Samsung stuff, is it?

You make me happy I cancelled my order. My Carved case is still beautiful! :p But seriously, no way could that be normal wear and tear. You've barely had it a month!
